Dear All, This is an invitation to attend the ninth Webinar of the new At-Large Capacity Building Program - 2016 on the topic: “Current security trends impacting registrants and end users”. This webinar will be hosted by Julie Hammer<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julie_Hammer> and Rod Rasmussen<http://internetidentity.com/leader/rod-rasmussen/>, who will be your trainers for this specific session. Rod Rasmussen is VP of cybersecurity at Infoblox. He is widely recognized as a leading expert on the abuse of the domain name system by criminals. Rasmussen co-founded and led the technical side of IID, a cybersecurity company focused on cyber incident response and information sharing which was purchased by Infoblox in early 2016. Rasmussen has is a highly active participant, often in leadership roles in industry and other global organizations addressing many of the cybersecurity issues of the day. Rasmussen is co-chair of the Anti-Phishing Working Group’s (APWG) Internet Policy Committee and serves as an APWG Industry Liaison. In this role, he works closely with ICANN, the international oversight body for domain names, and is a member of ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). Rasmussen is a member of the Online Trust Alliance’s (OTA) Steering Committee and is a member of the FCC's Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (FCC CSRIC). Rasmussen is also an active participant in the Messaging Malware Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG), and is IID's Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) representative. He is a regular participant in DNS-OARC meetings, the worldwide organization for major DNS operators, registries and interested parties. At-Large Board Member Selection Timeline - 2017 Round

Dear All, On behalf of the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC), we would like to announce the selection process timeline of the Board Director chosen by the At-Large Community, who will be seated at the end of ICANN60 (2017 Annual General Meeting - AGM). To view the timeline, please click here: https://community.icann.org/x/ORq4Aw. The seat no.15 of the ICANN Board of Directors is dedicated to a member selected by the At-Large Community. This seat is currently occupied by Rinalia Abdul Rahim, who assumed the position at the end of ICANN51 (2014 AGM). Her 3-year term will be completed at the closing of ICANN60 (2017 AGM). The At-Large Community process for selecting the next Board Director began in September 2016, with the appointment of the Chairs and Members of the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC) and the Board Candidate Evaluation Committee (BCEC). The BMSPC will be overseeing the entire selection process for the At-Large Board Director, including the development of the selection timeline and the election culminating the process. The BCEC is tasked to delineate candidate requirements and expectations, as well as identify, compile, and evaluate the initial slate of applicants for the Board Director position. Both groups have regionally balanced membership and will be operating with strict code of conduct and high confidentiality. This historic moment marks the transition of the coordination and management of the Internet's unique identifiers to the private-sector, a process that has been committed to and underway since 1998. "This transition was envisioned 18 years ago, yet it was the tireless work of the global Internet community, which drafted the final proposal, that made this a reality," said ICANN Board Chair Stephen D. Crocker. "This community validated the multistakeholder model of Internet governance. It has shown that a governance model defined by the inclusion of all voices, including business, academics, technical experts, civil society, governments and many others is the best way to assure that the Internet of tomorrow remains as free, open and accessible as the Internet of today." Internet users will see no change or difference in their experience online as a result of the stewardship transition. In managing the coordination of the Internet's unique identifiers, ICANN plays a small but significant role in the Internet's ecosystem. For more than 15 years, ICANN has worked in concert with other technical bodies such as the Internet Engineering Task Force, the Regional Internet Registries, top-level domain registries and registrars, and many others. The final chapter of the privatization process began in 2014, when NTIA asked ICANN to convene the global multistakeholder community, which is made up of private-sector representatives, technical experts, academics, civil society, governments and individual Internet end users, to come together and formulate proposals to both replace NTIA's historic stewardship role and enhance ICANN's accountability mechanisms. The proposals reinforce ICANN's existing multistakeholder model and are also aimed at enhancing ICANN's accountability. The improvements include empowering the global Internet community to have direct recourse if they disagree with decisions made by ICANN the organization or the Board.
