The Analysis Group, the independent examiner conducting the second review of the ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom2), announced this survey to collect input from those who have interacted with NomCom and/or have ideas for ways to improve it. Please share your input by taking the survey found at this link: http://nomcomsurvey.cloudssi.com/[nomcomsurvey.cloudssi.com]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__nomcomsurvey.cloudssi.c…>. Background The NomCom plays a critical role within ICANN. It nominates appointees to the ICANN Board, the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Board, the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) and Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) Councils, and the At-Large Advisory Committee. Organizational reviews are mandated by ICANN Bylaws Section 4[icann.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_resource…>. The draft final report of the independent examiner will be posted for public comment, and the review is expected to conclude by mid-2018. The survey was open to the ICANN community from 9 June – 8 July 2017. A total of 584 individuals participated in the survey. The survey report provides a question-by-question analysis of the survey data and gives proposed data-driven recommendations for the community to consider. The findings offer insights into current perceptions of gender diversity in the community, potential and perceived barriers to participation, and the community's support for initiatives to enhance gender diversity. The webinar will be conducted by Matt Larson, Vice President of Research in ICANN's Office of the Chief Technology Officer. Larson will be joined in the webinar by Duane Wessels, Distinguished Engineer at Verisign, Inc. Wessels has compiled data about the readiness of resolvers for the upcoming root KSK roll. The root zone KSK is the most important cryptographic key that helps protect the Domain Name System (DNS). The key was originally scheduled to be changed or "rolled" on 11 October 2017. On 27 September, the organization announced[icann.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_news_ann…> that after analyzing new data, it had decided to postpone the roll. The new data indicated that too many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Network Operators were simply not ready for the changing of the key and ICANN didn't want to take a chance that the end Internet users of those operators would lose connectivity with the DNS. Larson will also talk about what comes next in terms of determining a new date for the changing of the key. In order to facilitate global participation, interpretation services will be available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session. During the course of the webinar, participants may submit questions using the chat function in Adobe Connect. The IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) ccTLD Fast Track Process was approved by the ICANN Board at its annual meeting in Seoul, South Korea on 30 October 2009. First requests were received starting 16 November 2009. The process enables countries and territories to submit requests to ICANN for IDN ccTLDs, representing their respective country or territory names in scripts other than Latin. IDN ccTLD requesters must fulfill a number of requirements: * the script used to represent the IDN ccTLDs must be non-Latin; * the languages used to express the IDN ccTLDs must be official in the corresponding country or territory; and * a specific set of technical requirements must be met (as evaluated by an external DNS Stability Panel comprised of DNS and IDN experts). The request and evaluation processes entail three steps: * Preparation (by the requester in the country / territory): Community consensus is built for which IDN ccTLD to apply for, how it is run, and which organization will be running it, along with preparing and gathering all the required supporting documentation. Requests are submitted through an online system together with additional material supporting the process at http://forms.icann.org/idn/apply.php[forms.icann.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__forms.icann.org_idn_app…> * String Evaluation: Requests are evaluated in accordance with the technical and linguistic requirements for the IDN ccTLD string(s) criteria described above. * String Delegation: Requests successfully meeting string evaluation criteria are eligible to apply for delegation following the same ICANN IANA process as is used for ASCII based ccTLDs. Requesters submit string delegation requests to IANA root zone management: root-mgmt(a)iana.org<mailto:root-mgmt@iana.org>. With this announcement, 58 string requests for a total of 40 countries/territories have successfully passed through the String Evaluation. Of these, 56 IDN ccTLDs representing 38 countries/territories are delegated in the DNS root zone, with the remainder either readying to apply, or actively applying for delegation of the string.
