Alan, Sébastien and I said we would agree on text for the proposed new rule on voting and send to ALAC for comment etc. This is an action from the last ALAC call, we should vote on this during our meeting later this week in Sydney. The proposed text is: - As the vote is proceeding, we can see how many people have voted. - As the vote is proceeding, we can see who has voted. - As the vote is proceeding, we can see a tally of how the votes have been cast. - The order of the options should not change as the vote proceeds. - Outsiders who cannot vote can look at all of the above interim results. - When the vote is ended, we can see how each person has voted. Thank you for your response Peter, I had indeed noted and welcomed the announcement and as I stated in various fora (my Tweets and to the At-Large list yesterday), "ALAC & At-Large look forward to the introduction of the lead candidate for CEO to other members of the ICANN community in Sydney" ... and I assume(d) that the penultimate paragraph of this announcement is/(was in part) a reply to my letter to the Board, regarding internal candidates and the search for CEO,..." As I stated in my original letter, what is essential in my biased personal opinion, is that not only is the very best candidate for ICANN CEO is selected at this critical time for ICANN; But also that they can promptly and effectively bring the support of the whole ICANN community to them and their plans and actions; I recognize the community I represent as Chair of the ALAC, is one of the more challenging groups to make that happen with and therefore, the only way we have a chance of improving institutional confidence *and* support for the new CEO from At-Large is by employing the highest possible standard of 'Openness, Transparency, and Accountability' possible in all we do. Looking forward to working again, more closely with you and the Board, in Sydney and beyond... Public Consultation on the Draft Community Travel Guidelines for FY2010: Volunteer Statement Drafter Needed

Dear Members: As you are no doubt aware, there is a public consultation open on a draft Travel Procedure for FY2010; of course, this affects At-Large travel. This consultation may be found at: http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-03jun09-en.htm At the ALAC Excom meeting yesterday this was clearly noted as a high priority. The consultation closes on 6th July, however, to allow time for community members to comment on a draft once written, and allow time for those coments to be reflected before voting, there is actually not a great deal of time to spare to get a draft written. Draft Security, Stability and Resiliency Report - development of an ALAC Statement

Dear DNS Security Issues Working Group leaders, cc: DNS Security Issues Working Group members and ALAC Members At its meeting yesterday, the ALAC Executive Committee reviewed the At-Large Policy Advice Development calendar (please see: www.atlarge.icann.org/policycalendar) to bring it up to date in advance of the Sydney meeting. The public comment period on the Draft Security, Stability and Resiliency Report is open until 19 June (see: http://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/#ssr) The ALAC Executive Committee is requesting that the DNS Security Issues Working Group develop the At-Large statement by 12 June. The ALAC will then have a five-day vote on this draft statement between 13-18 June. We were asked to contact you to ask if you and the other members of the DNS Security Issues Working Group will be able to develop this draft statement. Please note that Greg Rattray, ICANN's Chief Internet Security Advisor, will be holding a briefing on the Draft Security, Stability and Resiliency Report on Wednesday, 10 June UTC. Details of this briefing, including participation information and the link to the Adobe Connect chat room are available at: https://st.icann.org/alac/index.cgi/index.cgi?ssr_briefing_call. We understand that this drafting timeline is an extremely tight deadline. Given that the briefing on the report is on 10 June, we are asking Greg, who is the staff person responsible for this issue, whether the formal comments from ALAC can be delivered up to a week later to allow for a more complete At-Large contribution on this issue. Please let us know if we can provide any additional information or assistance on this issue.
