Dear colleagues We have started an wiki page regarding the Expression of Interest proposal. This is basically a strawman's propsal. Your comments are expected, of course. The deadline for submitting comments is January 27th. In order to allow the ALAC to vote we should move ahead as fast as possible, so it can be voted on at the ALAC teleconference on the 26th. Final Draft of White Paper on At-Large Board Member Selection (ABS) and Appointment process for your pre release feedback

The ad-hoc ABS-wg formed after our community call on Dec 22nd to draft a White Paper for community discussion and feedback on the topic has asked me to forward to this list the attached copy for you pre-public release feedback and comments. Putting this together (particularly at this time of year has been quite a heroic effort and as ALAC Chair I want to thank the WG members and our staff (particularly Heidi) for doing such an amazing and professional job! The ES & FR Versions will follow to this list shortly and we would appreciate if native language users could cross check these for accuracy with the original EN version as we are only using a machine translation tool. The Wiki pages for comments are set up in a separate page per section to aid collection and collation of comments and these links will be forwarded to you shortly. You should also note that we have arranged for the Final of this paper to be subject to the normal ICANN public comment processes which means that we will be 'publishing' this final on the 11th to fit with the required pre Nairobi meeting papers deadlines... I do apologize for the resulting compression of time you all now have to make your comments before this date but as this has been an extensively discussed matter it really should be an editorial rather than substantiative task. I want to echo Cheryl's thanks to the working group members for the unbelievable amount of work that went into creating this document, largely between Christmas and New Years. DC Consultation on Registry Agreement

Who of At-Large will be participating (in person or by phone) to the DC Consultation on Registry Agreement the 7th of January 2010 - 1400-19:45 UTC ? I will be by teleconference. Thanks ICANN invites community participation in an open consultation regarding the proposed registry agreement for new gTLDs. This meeting is being organized in response to a commitment made by ICANN at its meetings in Seoul to continue discussions with the community about open issues in the agreement, including the process for amending the agreement, aspects of registry services reviews, and restrictions on registry operators' ability to distribute names through affiliated registrars (e.g., vertical separation). The consultation will be held on Thursday, 7 January 2010, from 14:00 to 20:00 UTC (http://timeanddate.com/s/1gwx) A conference call bridge and Adobe Connect access will be available for this discussion and all interested parties are encouraged to participate. ICANN will facilitate this discussion from Washington, DC and space will be available to accommodate some in-person participation.
