Dear All, Please see below a message from Kristy Buckley, Outreach and Digital Inclusion Director, on behalf of the ASP Team. ** Greetings, On behalf of the Applicant Support Program (ASP) team, I would like to thank you for joining the recent GAC-ALAC discussion on the ASP. We greatly appreciated your participation and thoughtful contributions. The ICANN community is an invaluable ally in raising awareness of the program. For those who might have missed the meeting, the presentation slides and meeting recording are available on the GAC website<https://gac.icann.org/sessions/gac-and-icann-org-discussion-on-asp-matters-…>. As part of our regular reporting, ICANN org provides monthly updates to the SubPro Implementation Review Team (IRT) on the program’s status and outreach and engagement efforts. As you may be aware, the IRT is the community body which the staff team works to ensure that the implementation conforms to the intent of the policy recommendations that were adopted by the IANN Board. The next IRT update is scheduled for 18 September 2025 from 12:00-14:00 UTC (see upcoming IRT meetings<https://icann-community.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SPIR/pages/112197937/Meet…>). These updates are open to the entire ICANN community, and we encourage GAC and ALAC members to join when possible. Dear colleagues, For the first time in over a decade, businesses, communities, regional and local governments, non-profits, and other organizations will have the opportunity to apply for a new generic top-level domain (gTLD). A TLD is the part of a web address that comes after the last dot. For example, in www.icann.org, “.org” is the TLD. TLDs are unique digital assets that can be used to serve diverse cultural, geographic, linguistic, and professional communities, and provide a unique and secure space for customers and constituents online. Today there are more than 1,200 new gTLDs representing brands and businesses like .microsoft and .toyota, cities and regions like .amsterdam, and communities like .kids. Plus, there are gTLDs available in different scripts representing many languages. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the organization that coordinates the Internet’s Domain Name System. ICANN <http://www.icann.org/>, in partnership with the Asian, Australasian and Pacific Islands Regional At-Large Organization (APRALO) <https://icann-community.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AoDdBg>, will host a webinar mainly for prospective and current applicants from the Asia Pacific to learn more about the resources available to help with the ASP and gTLD application processes.
