Ask a Question Direct to the Board in Seoul http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-29sep09-en.htm 29 September 2009 An online question box where community members can ask questions directly to the ICANN Board and staff has opened today. The question box will take questions until Wednesday 14 October in preparation for the public forum at ICANN's international public meeting in Seoul on Thursday 29 October. Anyone can ask up to two questions or 50 words in length. The question can cover any topic related to ICANN and its work. Answers will be provided either during the public forum or emailed and published in the weeks following the meeting. You can find the form below as well as on the Seoul meeting website and the blog. For those members of At-Large who cannot be present in Seoul in person: this is a way for you to ensure your issues are responded to by the Board. Members of the ALAC recently received an email with their voting credentials for this vote. An email with background information on this application was sent to the ALAC-internal list on Wednesday, 16 September. Advance Notice: Board Committee Public Session Discussion of public participation and document publication operational policy 18 September 2009 The ICANN Board Public Participation Committee (PPC) will be holding a special public session on Monday 5 October at 15:00 UTC to discuss the Committee's work, focusing in particular on the Document Publication Operational Policy currently out for public comment. The public session will be held entirely online using the conferencing software that ICANN has been testing over the course of 2009 for its remote participation abilities. Any and all community members are invited to join the session, which will be accessible through the address: http://icann.na3.acrobat.com/ppc/. The meeting will be split into two parts: * The first will cover the broad issue of public participation within ICANN and Committee members will outline what they are currently working on, as well as take questions and suggestions. Input will be fed into the Committee's public session at the international public meeting in Seoul at the end of October. * The second part will take up the majority of the time and be dedicated to community discussion of the Document Publication Operational Policy. Input will be fed into the public comment period currently open on the operational policy. The operational policy covers the provision of documents and meeting agendas a set time ahead of an ICANN international public meeting, and also includes sections on the provision of executive summaries, plain language, use of jargon and acronyms, translation and so on. It was put out for public comment on 8 September and comments on it will be accepted for three days following the PPC public session. The date of the PPC public session – Monday 5 October – is particularly relevant as it is also the deadline date for the Seoul meeting (15 working days ahead of the opening day on 26 October). In particular, the Committee is interested in hearing the community's perspectives on the potential impact of the operational policy and what may be done to alleviate any issues. Para aquellos de ustedes que estén interesados en participar en estos esfuerzos, por favor, responda a este correo electrónico y el uso del garabato a continuación para identificar los tiempos que usted está disponible a fin de programar la primera llamada. Doodle: Call for Volunteers to participate in Joint ALAC/GNSO Efforts Related to the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA)

Dear All, At its meeting on 3 September 2009, the GNSO Council approved the charter to convene a drafting team to: (i) draft a registrant rights charter in cooperation with ALAC, and (ii) discuss further amendments to the RAA and to identify those on which further action may be desirable. For those of you who are interested in participating in these efforts, please reply to this email and use the Doodle below to identify the times that you are available in order to schedule the first call. Please also submit your Statement of Interest along with your response. The Statement of Interest should include the following information: 1. Current vocation, employer and position 2. Type of work performed in 1 above 3. Identify any financial ownership or senior management/leadership interest in registries, registrars or other firms that are interested parties in ICANN policy or any entity with which ICANN has a transaction, contract, or other arrangement 4. Identify any type of commercial interest in ICANN GNSO policy development outcomes. Are you representing other parties? 5. Describe any arrangements or agreements between you and any other group, constituency or person(s) regarding your nomination or selection as a work team member.
