Dear All, Please see below an announcement from David Olive, ICANN Vice President for Policy Development, on the newest member of the At-Large staff: ** Dear All, I am very pleased to announce that Matt Ashtiani will be joining the Policy Team as the At-Large Coordination Officer. After a brief transition period, Matt will take on the full responsibilities of this position as part of the At-Large Secretariat providing support to the ALAC and At-Large community. Matt joined ICANN as the Constituency Travel Coordinator in June 2009. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a triple Bachelor of Arts in International Developmental Studies, Political Science, History and a minor in Middle Eastern/North African Studies. After his undergraduate career Matt moved to Dublin, Ireland where he completed his Masters of Philosophy in International Peace Studies with a specialty in International Relations from Trinity College Dublin. In addition to English, Matt speaks fluent Farsi and some Spanish. Matt is based at ICANN's headquarters in Marina del Rey, California. Announcement from the ALAC Executive Committee concerning the Public Call by the Stability, Security, and Resilience of the DNS Review Team (SSR-RT)

Dear All, Please see below an important message from Olivier Crépin-Leblond, ALAC Chairperson, regarding the ALAC Statement on the Public Call by the Stability, Security, and Resilience of the DNS Review Team (SSR-RT): ** Dear All, Since the ALAC Statement on the Public Call by the Stability, Security, and Resilience of the DNS Review Team (SSR-RT), which was kindly drafted by Patrick Vande Walle with input from the community, was sent to the ICANN staff in charge of the public comment on this subject, there has been renewed discussion at the RALO level, about the contents of the statement, specifically the answer to Question 4. A sizeable number of late comments showed that there was substantial support among At-Large members for DNSSEC to be mandatory for all new gTLDs. This would mean the possibility of several abstentions in the current ALAC vote. As a result, and considering the fact that the answer to the question, as it was presented in the ALAC statement, would risk not accurately reflecting the ALAC consensus based on input from the edges of the community, the Executive Committee and I have taken the unprecedented decision of interrupting the ALAC vote *today* and appending an addendum to the Statement, with a new vote starting Monday on the Statement plus addendum. For your information, a copy of the proposed addendum reflecting the late comments is provided below. At this stage, I would like to emphasize that this is an exceptional measure - and therefore urge everyone to pay more attention to the messages ICANN At-Large Staff sends out asking for comments, so as to be able to provide input *during* the comment period. Having to recall statements in this manner is detrimental to the smooth process of ALAC comments and puts an undue and unfair workload on At-Large Staff and volunteers. On this occasion, the message from the ALSes was clear and we hope that, thanks to the proposed addendum, the ALAC Executive Committee has answered your concerns.
