Dear All, Steve Sheng, ICANN Senior Technical Analyst within the Policy Department, will talk about the currently open public consultation on the Interim Report of the Internationalized Registration Data Working Group<http://icann.org/en/public-comment/#ird> in an At-Large community briefing call. In June 2009 the ICANN Board approved a resolution (2009.06.26.18: <http://www.icann.org/en/minutes/resolutions-26jun09.htm#6>) requesting that the GNSO and the SSAC, in consultation with staff, convene an Internationalized Registration Data Working Group (IRD-WG) comprised of individuals with knowledge, expertise, and experience in these areas to study the feasibility and suitability of introducing display specifications to deal with the internationalization of registration data. The working group has produced an interim report that discusses several potential models for internationalizing domain registration data, and is seeking feedback from the community about the models and on other key questions via a public consultation that is open until 14 March 2011. During this call, participants will be able to engage in a discussion of the Interim Report of the Internationalized Registration Data Working Group with Steve and At-Large representatives on the IRD-WG. The ALAC ratification vote on this Statement will start imminently -- on ICANN's next business day. We will inform the Board of the results of this vote. Christopher Wilkinson, a member of an At-Large Structure ( ALS) in the European Regional At-Large Organization (EURALO), composed a first draft of this statement, which he shared with the EURALO community and later with the wider At-Large community. With the support from several At-Large members, a wiki workspace<https://community.icann.org/x/lYLu> containing this statement was created. The At-Large staff sent out a call for comments from the At-Large community, to be submitted via this workspace, on 20 May 2011. Comments were received not only on the workspace but also during the ALAC and ALAC Executive Committee monthly calls held on 24 May 2011. On 28 May 2011, Olivier Crépin-Leblond, Chair of the ALAC, (a) wrote a second draft of this statement, attached here, incorporating the received comments, and (b) requested that the At-Large staff begin a five day ALAC ratification vote on this statement on the next business day. Fellowship Application Round Opens for ICANN International Public Meeting 42 in Dakar, Senegal

Dear All, Please note the following announcement of the opening of the Fellowship Application Round for the 42nd ICANN meeting to be held in Dakar, Senegal 23-28 October: The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is now accepting online applications for the 14th round of the Fellowship program. Successful candidates will participate in the ICANN meeting to be held in Dakar, Senegal 23-28 October 2011. The Fellowship program is open to applicants who are current residents of developing and least developed nations and interested in participating in ICANN and its supporting organizations, constituencies and stakeholder groups. Priority is given to individuals new to the ICANN environment from government and the ccTLD community, as well as those from academic, civil, business and non-profit entities, which are NOT involved in or associated with other ICANN supported travel programs. The program provides the support and opportunity for these participants to gain knowledge on how to have their voices heard in the Internet community and ICANN. The Fellowship program arranges the airfare, hotel and a stipend for those individuals selected to participate in this ICANN meeting.
