Hello Siva, Thanks for your comments. We have had some discussion about the financing of all those events and I am not convince that we will be able to have that organize in one single 3 years plan. I am ideal world yes a GA in each region during a 2 years period (the time for ICANN to go in Each regions) and a Summit in the next 2 years cycle. But with all the other issue At-Large have to take care of, I think if we can have a GA in each region during the next plan and a Summit after that it will be not too bad. Also this 3 years will allow each region to reach more ALSes and to involve them in policy work. ALAC comment on Affirmation of Commitments Review Process

Dear All, As you are aware, ICANN is about to embark on a review process as required by the Affirmation of Commitments. A Draft Proposal on how the reviews should be conducted has been issued and the public comment period closes on 31 January (see: http://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/#affrev) A call for review team members has also been issued (see: http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-13jan10-en.htm) In order to have an ALAC statement submitted to meet the deadline, the ALAC officers have drafted a proposed statement which can be found on the ALAC wiki at: https://st.icann.org/alac-docs/index.cgi?alac_comment_on_aoc_processes . Please review this document and use the comment function to indicate your support as well as any additions/changes. It is very important that this be done by Monday, 25 January 23:59 UTC. A revised version will be issued prior to the ALAC meeting on Tuesday, 26 January for a brief discussion. A formal vote will begin the following the day. It is extremely important that the ALAC provide their comments on this important process within the time-period specified. Information on the HSTLD advisory group

Dear All, An action item from the 22 December 2009 ALAC meeting was for staff to provide you with information on the HSTLD advisory group. Dave Piscitello, Senior Security Technologist at ICANN, has provided the following information on this advisory group: The HSTLD advisory group is reviewing the concept paper published in conjunction with DAGv3. The group will assist ICANN staff (primarily security team and services) in (1) reviewing the public comments, (2) studying the merits of the verification program, (3) assess the risks the HSTLD should address/mitigate, and ultimately, (4) revise the concept paper and provide finer details for the program elements. Andy Welch is the lead consultant from KPMG, which has been hired by the ICANN CISA to assist staff in new TLD security initiatives. KPMG participated in the composition of the original concept paper, which was developed based on the malicious conduct explanatory memorandum and requirements submitted to ICANN staff from financial, law enforcement, security, and anti-phishing communities. Hi Scott thanks for the reply (and I hope there is not too much residual rust ;-) I've copied At-Large staff and our ALAC working list as I'd like to see (at least) two things happen:- 1. the Regions have a listen to and discuss this pilot episode in their upcoming monthly meetings (with a view to a more fulsome discussion at our OneDay meeting on the Sunday at Nairobi where we are looking at ways to better engage 'our public' and 'members'... 2. We all look at what use of volunteers we might be able to organize and other 'work around plans'... Certainly I know the AfRALO, APRALO & LACRALO leadership would be very keen to look at this opportunity to better engage and outreach to local community in the plethora of language we have in our regions and I fully expect EURALO to feel the same though of course there is a greater use of EN as a second language in many of their ALSes... Once that initial list is released, "petition" candidates that were rejected by the ABSC can be put back on the ballot. While there has been no limit on the number of petition candidates, they will require endorsement by three RALOs so there should not be many added this way. Final Draft of White Paper on At-Large Board Member Selection (ABS) and Appointment process for your pre release feedback

The ad-hoc ABS-wg formed after our community call on Dec 22nd to draft a White Paper for community discussion and feedback on the topic has asked me to forward to this list the attached copy for you pre-public release feedback and comments. Putting this together (particularly at this time of year has been quite a heroic effort and as ALAC Chair I want to thank the WG members and our staff (particularly Heidi) for doing such an amazing and professional job! The ES & FR Versions will follow to this list shortly and we would appreciate if native language users could cross check these for accuracy with the original EN version as we are only using a machine translation tool. The Wiki pages for comments are set up in a separate page per section to aid collection and collation of comments and these links will be forwarded to you shortly. You should also note that we have arranged for the Final of this paper to be subject to the normal ICANN public comment processes which means that we will be 'publishing' this final on the 11th to fit with the required pre Nairobi meeting papers deadlines... I do apologize for the resulting compression of time you all now have to make your comments before this date but as this has been an extensively discussed matter it really should be an editorial rather than substantiative task.
