I was on a zoom call this week where Roger McNamee used the phrase "the hood ornaments of public participation". He was referring to organizations like IETF, W3C, etc, not ICANN specifically, but if not careful, ICANN At-Large can turn into a "hood ornament of public participation". It's a valid concern. Dear all, The ALAC has been asked the following question: Do you support the decertification of Connecting.nyc Inc., CO ISOC and ISOC Gauteng Whereas the ALAC Rules of Procedures and the associated Adjunct Document 04 – At-Large Structure Framework allows the ALAC to decertify an At-Large Structure (ALS); Whereas, as documented at the ALS Decertification Workspace<https://community.icann.org/x/sid-Ag>, Connecting.nyc Inc.,<https://community.icann.org/x/UYUCBw> CO ISOC<https://community.icann.org/x/VISLD> and ISOC Gauteng<https://community.icann.org/x/WISLD> either no longer exists or no longer satisfies the requirements to be an ALS as identified in the At-Large Structure Framework, and/or the ALS requirements as outlined in their RALO's rules; It is resolved that the ALAC decertifies the following organizations as ICANN At-Large Structures: Connecting.nyc Inc.,CO ISOC and ISOC Gauteng Such decertification is subject to ICANN Board Reconsideration as per Article IV, Section 2 of the ICANN Bylaws and is done without prejudice to any future re-application of these organizations for certification as ALS, or the applications for ALS certification of any other groups bearing the same names. Yesim That puzzles me. I looked at the backgrounds for this meeting - there were four -and one of them was light. What happened to it? Please ask people in charge of the backgrounds. Text on those backgrounds is simply too hard to read on small screens and since people will be joining online as well as those with sight difficulties, I'd rather have no background. I realize that seems petty, but At one stage in my career, I headed up the Aust. Broadcasting Corp EO Unit, and later, was project manager to develop consumer codes for the telco industry - including one on disability equipment. So over the years, I have become acutely aware of disability issues, and light text on dark backgrounds is a big no no. Hi Marita Sorry about the confusion. Ricardo is doing his numbers bit on the budgets. There are two slides (at least) after that. The first is what we said on the ICANN budget on the MSM. The second is on the ICANN response to ALAC’s comments, Since you prepared the comments for the ICANN budget on the MSM issue, I was assuming you would want to talk to your comments. The second lot would be based on the comments you found by ICANN commenting on our comments. I assumed you would want to report on your find, but am happy to report on them. What I was referring to was the presentation by Kim Davies explaining about the PTI/IANA budget. Silvia - would you please send a copy of that presentation (on August 11/12) by IANA/PTI of their budget to Ricardo (copy to me) Under ICANN public comments, it is listed on the ICANN website under ’upcoming proceedings’ for September - so it isn’t out yet but will be this month. And a reminder - this whole session has been planned to address the purpose of this session as set out by Maureen - to report back on what OFB WG has done (and will continue to do in the coming year) So your discussion is about the comments we made on last year’s budgets- with maybe a bit of background.
