Whether you plan to participate in the upcoming Brussels meeting remotely or in person, youre invited to a quick reminder of the background and current status of each major policy issue currently under discussion in ICANN. The ICANN Policy Staff will provide a briefing on Wednesday at 9 June at 13.00 and 19.00 UTC, summarizing policy issues across the different ICANN Supporting Organizations, namely the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO), Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) and Address Supporting Organization (ASO). Amongst other topics, updates will be provided on: - GNSO Vertical Integration Policy Development Process - GNSO Improvements - GNSO Post-Expiration Domain Name Recovery Policy Development Process - GNSO WHOIS Studies - ccNSO IDN PDP - ccNSO Delegation and Re-delegation Working Group - ASO Global policy for handling IPv4 address space The two sessions are duplicates, scheduled to accommodate different time zones. Dear Diane, The At-Large staff has the honour to transmit to you the ALAC Statement on Reconsideration Request 10-1 Recommendation on behalf of the At-Large Advisory Committee for distribution to the ICANN Board of Directors with our compliments. The Statement was submitted to the public consultation on Recommendation on Reconsideration Request 10-1 on May 20th. The attached document was drafted by Sebastien Bachollet, Vice Chair of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC). On May 7th, Sebastien submitted the draft statement for review to the members of the ALAC, the leaders of the regional At-Large organisations, the ALAC liaisons and the members of the working group on the future structure, accountability and transparency of ICANN. On May 12th, the draft statement was also published for comments on the At-Large website and announced to the wider At-Large community. On May 14th, the Chair of the ALAC asked the Staff to start a five-day online vote on the ALAC Statement on Reconsideration Request 10-1 Recommendation. The online vote ended on May 19th and resulted in the ALAC endorsing the statement with 14-0. ALAC-NCSG Statement on Transparency of Staff Documents

Dear Diane The At-Large staff has the honour to transmit to you the ALAC-NCSG Statement on Transparency of Staff Documents on behalf of the At-Large Advisory Committee and the Non-Commercial Stakeholder Group for distribution to the ICANN Board of Directors. The attached document was drafted by Adam Peake, member of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) and Avri Doria, member of the Non-Commercial Stakeholder Group (NCSG) of the Generic Names Supporting Organisation (GNSO). The initial draft was prepared by Avri and Robin Gross from the NCSG, and Adam and Evan Leibovitch from the At-Large community. Avri and Adam presented the draft Statement to ALAC at the ICANN conference in Nairobi where it was further discussed among the members of the ALAC and the NCSG. The first revision of the statement (the attached document) incorporates comments received on the initial draft. The Chair of the NCSG Executive Committee has confirmed that this statement was endorsed on the NCSG/NCUC Discussion list on 11 March 2010 by the membership of the NCSG/NCUC. During the ALAC teleconference on April 27th 2010, the ALAC endorsed the ALAC-NCSG Statement unanimously. And thank you for those who volunteered to help outreach to different stakeholders and to suggest speakers to strengthen the agenda. As mentioned in the call, we expect the event to be a "roundtable" for more in-depth discussions rather than a "conference" with less interactive participation. This event is also the first Asia Pacific regional IGF meeting which hopefully could become like a preparatory gathering towards future collaboration and meetings. The outreach will be most important to let more people know about the efforts and to also get broader involvement. Public Comments Opens Today: Questions to the Community on Accountability and Transparency within ICANN

Dear All, The Accountability and Transparency Review Team<http://www.icann.org/en/reviews/affirmation/review-1-en.htm> (ATRT) is opening a 45-day public comment, from 18th May through 1 July 2010, on "Questions to the Community on Accountability and Transparency within ICANN<http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-18may10-en.htm>" and invites community comments and responses to these questions. Explanation/Background: In the Affirmation of Commitments (AoC), ICANN commits to maintain and improve robust mechanisms for public input, accountability and transparency so as to ensure that the outcomes of its decision-making will reflect the public interest and be accountable to all stakeholders. The AoC Accountability and Transparency Review Team (ATRT) is in the process of analyzing stakeholder and community input that has been submitted on these topics prior to the AoC (i.e. comments on Improving Institutional Confidence, submissions to the NTIA NOI on expiration of the JPA, etc.). However, the ATRT would also like to understand if there are new inputs or changes in stakeholder views since the establishment of the AoC. The Process Going Forward: At the end of this Public Comment period, the ATRT will review the comments submitted and prepare a summary analysis of the various submissions.
