Well, one place wld be in ICANN's posted comments. I suggest folks also look at what ICANN said "we" said in summaries. They often omit or "misunderstand". Is helpful to know that in case you are making similar points. New: ICANN Board Resolution on vertical integration in new gTLDs

ICANN’s Board held a special meeting on 5-Nov and voted to allow vertical integration in the new gTLD plan: ICANN will not restrict cross-ownership between registries and registrars. Registry operators are defined as the registry operator and all other relevant parties relating to the registry services. The Board resolution added enforcement mechanisms against abusive conduct. New gTLD registry agreements will include: (1) a Code of Conduct prohibiting misuse of data or other abusive conduct arising out of cross-ownership; (2) auditing requirements; (3) graduated sanctions up to and including contractual termination and punitive damages; and (4) ICANN's right to refer competition issues to appropriate government competition authorities. With Phase I of the PDP complete, the VI Working Group intends to suspend its activities pending further instructions from the GNSO Council for conducting Phase II of the PDP, which is expected to focus on developing a long term solution for both new gTLD and existing gTLDs. I used to have a professor at Stanford who used the phrase "utter rubbish" when he came across something he didn't agree with. It's sad that the source of this utter rubbish is a Stanford professor. It totally misses the point of why silos are bad and layers are good in our generation of telecommunications. Since 1983, we in the US have been making a transition from a completely vertically integrated telecom monopoly to a horizontally layered Internet communications system that is immensely more diversified, efficient, technologically advanced and competitive than anything that existed in the years of the Bell System. Just ask yourself about the five best innovations in telecommunications in the last five years - take your pick - would any of them been successful if they didn't have one or more layers of the Internet stack to use as a platform for launching their chunk of innovation? Internet entrepreneurs today will look for and exploit market niches, and once established, do their best to differentiate their products both vertically and horizontally in order to maximize profits. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. All too frequently, the niche closes before they breakeven! But VI is pretty incidental to other economic factors.
