All, I'm passing along WIPO's recent excellent and succint comments to ICANN on continuing problems in the DAG v. 4. I would propose that the BC support these comments as they directly affect the availability of effective remedies for businesses to protect their brands and consumers from confusion after the rollout of new gTLDs. This would suggest that we are responsible not to overload our workload, deal with requests in a mature, responsible and measured manner. It seems that if we choose speed and meeting deadlines (at times) over getting the right outcome we are going to be responsible for this in the eyes of the Board and the community. Therefore, it seems that the Council should not shy away from stating that a time line (set by Board or any other entity) cannot be met or that we will have to take time we decide in our responsible opinion and that matters should wait until we get it right and not compromise quality over speed. I especially note this in light of deadlines, at times, being used as leverage during negotiations to push parties to compromise. BC Website Revamp

Dear BC members, You may have noticed that the BC website has been given a revamp. www.bizconst.org The content is essentially the same but I has been given a more modern look and the navigation has been simplified. I tried to add the Nairobi photo slide show to the home page but had some problems making it work so last night I asked Jason (our webmaster) to pull it and we will add a new one post Brussels. If anybody finds a broken link or omissions or anything needing a fix please let me know. My baby the Acronym helper has been added, see Acronym in the left hand menu. Please email me any new acronyms that you uncover during the Brussels meeting. Moving forward and, as we can discuss on Tuesday, we should now start to think about our New website and what our requirements are. Last but not least I send a big thanks to Jason Sjobeck and his team for pushing this project through in time for our Brussels meeting. Dear Colleagues I am asked to forward the GNSO Council's proposal for "protocol" for the Saturday and Sunday meetings. I invite you to review and take note of the Council's proposed protocol, which they have developed, and are distributing. We will also put the discussion of input from the SG, and the constituency on improvements to organizing and planning Saturday and Sunday meetings that are relevant to the BC's interests, and the SGs, on our agenda for the upcoming Constituency Daymeetings. Regards, Marilyn CadeBC Chair +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Please find a brief GNSO Meeting Protocol for the upcoming meetings here in Brussels. · Participation in GNSO Working Sessions is open to everyone. · The GNSO working sessions are not official Council meetings and no Council decisions are taken. · Councilors and the Policy staff responsible for presenting will have assigned seats with name cards around the U shape table. Other community participants are invited to be seated in the seats provided for the audience. · Councilors are invited to speak first to the various topics. · Community participants will then have an opportunity to speak. Speakers should be placed in the queue in order of their request. · The chair will determine the length of time each speaker is allowed so that the session can finish on time. · The number of times that one person can speak will be limited in order to give the entire audience an opportunity to express themselves and allow for diversity of different language speakers.
