In an email to the Community Informatics list, on July 30, 2014, Michael Gurstein pointed to an “interesting background paper” he felt provided “some very useful conceptual clarification/development” for the Community Informatics Declaration - Internet for the Common Good. That paper was: James B. Quilligan, Why Distinguish Common Goods from Public Goods? I too found it interesting, but for different reasons. I support the CI Declaration because it defines global as a federation of locals. My reason for that support is based on a specific understanding of how a shift in culture that resulted in creating technologies like the Internet has also created a very different meaning for the word governance. Hello All, I wanted to be the first to congratulate Holly on winning the AP ALT vote. As I said on the Wiki page, Holly has done brilliantly in the past, and I am sure she will continue to do brilliantly moving forward. Holly has my 100% support, and I will continue to give this community all I can. I would also like to also take this opportunity to congratulate Cheryl for the ALAC Liaison to the GNSO - Cheryl does not need any introductions as she will do an incredible job.
