Capacity Building WG - back to track

Dear Jonathan, community, I would like to initiate the renewal of the Capacity Building WG. We have a successful experience, excellent reviews and results (of course participation metrics - we all love metrics), and have been trying to come back to this activity for years (since Hamburg ICANN meeting in November 2023 and earlier - we suggested it with Hadia and had community support). Capacity Building work is a great community mobilization way, as well as strong support for important and complex topics (technological, cybersec, Consolidated Policy, broader ICANN topics to explain with the participation of other ICANN groups - too) is a great way to go. It might help our newcomers to be engaged, be aware, for our experts - to be useful with priceless expertise. If we are not sure it`s needed, we should organise the poll and ask the community about it. I see it as a simple way to use bottom up mode to start or close some processes inside At-Large - Technology Task Force WG, Outreach and Engagement coordinated work, setting up any Subcommittees etc - the way when the community has a decision together with a link to the community opinion - synergy has proven effectiveness. I did not add in the copy of this email Maureen, Hadia, Joanna, Alfredo, Maria - I remember this wonderful team lead the CBWG, but hope some may put comments to my suggestion, as well as other respected community members and leaders. Universal Acceptance: the Path Forward

Dear all The Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) has made significant strides in enhancing awareness about UA over the last decade, and lately, driving it's adoption. The ICANN Board has acknowledged the work of UASG in the last ICANN meeting through a resolution. Looking forward, the ICANN Board has charted out new directions for the work around UA, both for the ICANN Community and for partnering organizations. Pari Esfandiari cited her CircleID essay How Trump’s Trade War is Reshaping the Global Internet <https://circleid.com/posts/how-trumpas-trade-war-reshaping-the-global-inter…> which includes *"What began as a debate over tax fairness has morphed into a contest over who gets to write the rules of the internet economy. With the United States aggressively defending its tech sector and other countries asserting fiscal sovereignty, the world is entering an era of contested digital governance. Whether the internet evolves as a shared global commons or fragments into isolated walled gardens will depend on choices being made right now."* Wolfgang Kleinwächter responded *"A landmark moment was last week in Geneva during the UNCSTD session. During the negotiations on the WSIS+20 resolution it was mainly Iran which watered down proposals to make the IGF a "permanent institution" and to refer to the "Sao Paulo Multistakeholder Guidelines" (SPMGs). Nevertheless, the final text included some positive language on human rights, sustainable development goals, AI and against "duplication" of processes and institutions. But when the resolution was ready for adoption, it was the US which asked for a "roll call". The US rejected all references to SDGs, gender and climate and voted as the only country with "No". The UNCSTD resolution will go to ECOSOC and constitutes the main reference for the "intergovernmental prepratory process" (as mentioned in 79/227) for the WSIS+20 high level review conference in December 2025. So far, all WSIS documents were adopted by consensus. An interesting "Road to NYC" is ahead of us. Microsoft is shutting down Skype in May and replacing it with the free version of Microsoft Teams for consumers. Existing Skype users will be able to log in to the Microsoft Teams app and have their message history, group chats, and contacts all automatically available without having to create another account, or they can choose to export their data instead.
