I had a similar reaction. I wrote to ICANN privately and asked if they would postpone these until January to allow more notice and greater participation. I would very much like to attend one of these consultations, but unfortunately, I have existing engagements in Los Angeles during the DC meeting and on the East Coast during the LA meeting! I would block my schedule for the LA meeting though if I had more notice. -- Bret

I also note that the meeting is also one hour longer than previously foreseen, and that the meeting wil be interrupted by an unplanned event. I find it peculiar that the ALAC would on the one hand complain to the board that the public forum in Cairo was interrupted with VIP speeches and on the other hand do exactly the same with ALAC's teleconference. It is already difficult to fit the planned teleconferences in the middle of the business day (European time). It is even more of an annoyance to have last minute changes. Can we have the meeting slots for the upcoming three months and a guarantee that the ALAC will stick to it ? Hi Danny couple of points Wich I will limit to the matters effecting the ALAC not ICANN Policyt Development processes per se:- 1. It *is* on the Agenda as a main item 2. We (ALAC via at least two of the ExCom) has taken all the questions and concernes discussed in Cairo by the Ad Hoc group and other attendees to the 1st of the GNSO Briefing session on this and they are listed on the questions list etc., as the transcripts show And will do so for the next call on Dec 8th as well 3. The AdHoc will be formailised on Dec 8th as well (as per Agenda) and I trust you and all the other "users" will not only get involved as the aim of this is to engage much wider than the ALAC per Se but to involve the ALS's via the Regions, get REAL Regional input etc., and I look forward to seeing what comes out of NARALO and other users in yur region on this matter as a reasult of this process... (nice if it resulted in direct comments as well being in the English speaking secotr of course your comments will be required now by the 15th) But all self organised activities from the wide rangeof users you are in constant contact with is no doubt being fed into the NARALO work on this important matter, will be inspirational to the work of the other Regions and contribute extensively to the final ALAC Statements in January (as we need to incorporate the Nion English REgional and User deliberations and interests. Sure, there were many other networks out there, but you know what I found to be most amusing is that historically they all merged with the Internet. I am therefore neither "for" or "against" the idea of NAT66. I've seen several alternative DNS roots rise and fall. If organisations wish to launch their own Internet, their own root servers, their own interfacing with the current Internet through IPv6 NAT, sure, go ahead! Let the market decide what's best. We plan to work on outreach in the New Year, including having both Danny and Beau - and anyone else we can rustle up - speak on the issues at public meetings.
