The Fellowship Program has demonstrated success in its mission to build capacity in the ICANN multistakeholder environment through focused interactive engagement between newcomers to ICANN and community members at each of the ICANN meetings. The program seeks to identify members of the Internet community who either have not previously been able to participate in ICANN processes or constituent organizations, or those who require further exposure to the Internet community and its work but cannot travel and attend a meeting without financial support. This outreach program seeks participants from developing regions and countries of the world, in order to help create a broader base of knowledgeable constituents who will become the new voice of experience in their regions and beyond. Applications to become an ICANN Fellow are assessed for each meeting by an independent selection committee. Priority is given to applicants who: meet minimum program requirements; are current residents of developing and least developed nations; and are interested in participating in the ICANN multistakeholder process and its supporting organizations, advisory committees or stakeholder groups. An effort will be made to include participants from the region in which the ICANN meeting is being held. All confirmed fellowship participants must comply with the terms and conditions of the Fellowship program, as outlined at http://www.icann.org/en/about/participate/fellowships/terms-conditions. As stated within these terms and conditions, ICANN is a California non-profit public benefit corporation and must therefore comply with all the laws and regulations of California and the United States. Fellows are responsible for obtaining all travel visas once accepted into the program. ICANN will purchase tickets for Fellows after all necessary documentation has been obtained and Fellows demonstrate that they have obtained all necessary travel visas. Once all of the requirements for travel are met, the Fellowship program arranges for and covers the costs for airfare and hotel, as well as providing a stipend to assist with some meeting and subsistence costs. The stipend is provided after each selected candidate successfully completes the requirements of the Fellowship program, Recipients will be expected to actively participate in and contribute to ICANN processes during and after the meeting. As always, registration for ICANN meetings is free for anyone wanting to attend. Dear All, Please see message below. I would encourage people to give their views on confusingly similar new gTLDs. You will see that .tv was ruled to not be similar to .tvs whereas .tour is confusingly similar to .tours Is this fair? Have your say and publish your comments on the links to the wiki or by responding to this thread and I will take your views to the ALAC when we deliberate this. Actually I would like to propose that we will use an Adobe Connect room as well as phone bridge for our meetings and I will request that the AC room is set up to allow audio connection as well to aid any of us who want to use that method, that way we can share documentation or screens etc.,) We can discuss other collaboration in more detail when we gather... I wonder however if we night approach this WG in a "open design' as we do in some ALAC and several GNSO Work Groups... That is we will focus on ensuring all our work is captured (if not created from time to time) in the wiki spaces we have access to and that therefore any one reading a page can comment and contribute to our work, and also that whilst we will be "the core WG Members" and be responsible for drafting etc., that we also (once we set one up and i suggest we do) have a topic based email list for the WG => we allow any other interested parties (from our region and indeed beyond) to subsribe to our list and be recorded as <observers or preferably 'subscribed to list'> so that our work is as open and transparent and inclusive as possible but perhaps *more importantly* that we can continuously gain input from our community as we progress our work... What do you all think? No need to decide now we will make this a matter for discussion and decision at our first meeting but do take time to consider... Dear Colleagues, The ALAC is in the process of gathering feedback from the At Large community on our feedback into the development of clearer guidelines for ccTLD delegation and redelegation. Within the Asian, Australasian and Pacific region, countries have different stances and positions and even within countries, there are diverse views. This is an opportunity to make your views and voice heard. There are a few countries where law has been passed to change the management of the country code top level domain name (ccTLD). Your respective governments may already have representatives to the Government Advisory Committee (GAC) and they may also wish to make their views known independent of the At Large and ALAC. ccTLD Managers within Asia Pacific may also wish to participate through the ccNSO is they are not already doing so, particularly where these guidelines are developed. Whether you are from government, private sector or civil society, you can make your views heard during the consultation process. If you would like to raise your views through the At Large community, I would encourage you to read the email below from ICANN At Large Staff. As we set out on our initial meeting(s) Noting the doodle will be sent out soon to all of us who volunteered, to aid us in the best selection of time and date for us to teleconference... Actually I would like to propose that we will use an Adobe Connect room as well as phone bridge for our meetings and I will request that the AC room is set up to allow audio connection as well to aid any of us who want to use that method, that way we can share documentation or screens etc.,) We can discuss other collaboration in more detail when we gather... I wonder however if we night approach this WG in a "open design' as we do in some ALAC and several GNSO Work Groups... That is we will focus on ensuring all our work is captured (if not created from time to time) in the wiki spaces we have access to and that therefore any one reading a page can comment and contribute to our work, and also that whilst we will be "the core WG Members" and be responsible for drafting etc., that we also (once we set one up and i suggest we do) have a topic based email list for the WG => we allow any other interested parties (from our region and indeed beyond) to subsribe to our list and be recorded as <observers or preferably 'subscribed to list'> so that our work is as open and transparent and inclusive as possible but perhaps *more importantly* that we can continuously gain input from our community as we progress our work... What do you all think? No need to decide now we will make this a matter for discussion and decision at our first meeting but do take time to consider...
