I agree...I will miss him too. In the interest of transparency, however, I would like to know more about any non-personal issues that are naturally raised by the sentence, "At the same time, he also requested that his ALS, the Aotearoa Maori Internet Organization, withdraw from the At-Large community." The answer may have something to teach us. In tendering his resignation, Karaitiana asked that APRALO be informed that his “personal circumstances unexpectedly changed so much that [he is] relieving [himself] of many of [his] commitments including APRALO. [His] new work commitments have also been interfering with APRALO over recent months”. He does so with much sorrow and regret. Dear list subscribers despite me stating the thread was at an end I will make this exception because Karaitiana has asked me to pass the following on to you all... The pity is he had to take the time to do so *sigh*... However I promised him I would pass it on, and now I have... => back to END of DISCUSSION and as list(s) moderator *I can make that ruling*.... <snip from email sent to me from Karaitiana earlier today > Hi Cheryl, I noticed my resignation has caused some questions and concerns amongst the ALAC community. Perhaps you could pass this on. I would like to assure ALAC that my resignation is solely to do with unexpected personal circumstances and nothing at all to do with ICANN or politics or any other thing other than personal reasons. The swiftness of the acceptance of my resignation was a sign of respect that I appreciate. I believe in the RALO's and ALAC and will always be an advocate for it. The removal of the ALS from APRALO. This has been a long time coming and despite my best efforts to revive the organisation it has recently become redundant. The removal of our web site was the last piece in our redundancy process. Essentially we did our job so well that we no longer need to exist. The original people we represented are no longer our stakeholders and thus we are not a representative group for APRALO. APRALO Brochure and ALS Survey

Hello all, How is everything going? This is Pavan Budhrani, Secretariat of APRALO and wanted to contact you about several APRALO issues. The first one was about the APRALO Brochure. Recently we have agreed to do one APRALO brochure, in that, one page will be about the testimonials from ALS’es around the Asia Pacific region. Thus, we would like all ALS’es if you would be kind enough to send us a picture of yourself and some lines about your ALS, and also why it is worthwhile to participate in APRALO. It would be great exposure because we plan to distribute these out during ICANN meetings, other external meetings and even online. This is an example of the brochure done by the Latin America region. http://www.atlarge.icann.org/announcements/announcement-01mar10-2-en.htm The Second part is that we are now in process of doing a global ALS Survey along with other regional officers and the ALAC. It is a simple form with some multiple choice questions. The main areas to be covered there are about your relationship with the ccTLD in your region and also some other housekeeping items like which communication channel works better and so on. This would be useful information for us to engage more often. There would be in total 3 parts to the survey and the links will be sent across next week. Really look forward to your prompt reply. Results of the APRALO Vice Chair Election 2010

Dear all, With 12 out of 19 APRALO ALS representatives having voted in the recent APRALO Vice Chair 2010 Elections we can confirm that the results are quorate. ************* APRALO Vice Chair Elections 2010 The question that was put was the following: "Please indicate your preference for each of the candidates for the two currently open APRALO Vice Chair positions. Your preference is indicated by clicking on the box to the left of each name. The order of preference is from most preferred (your first click), to your lowest preference (the last clicked). You must indicate a preference for each candidate for your vote to be valid. The candidate with the highest preference will be appointed for a two-year term. The candidate with the second highest preference will be appointed for the remainder of Mahmoud Lattouf's term which ends in March 2011. " The election result is as follows: Rank Candidate 1 Les Allison 2 Fouad Bajwa 3 Sivasubramanian Muthusamy ************ Les Allison will be appointed to the Vice Chair position for a two-year term. Fouad Bajwa will be appointed for the remainder of Mahmoud Lattouf's term. Voting Method: The online election used the single transferable voting method (STV). This voting method is based on multiple rounds of voting whereas the candidate with the least preferences is taken off the ballot after each round. The preferences from voters having voted for the candidate with the least preference will automatically be transferred over to the remaining candidates.
