Dear colleagues, On behalf of ISOC Malaysia, I would like to cordially invite you to attend the 4th International Conference on Internet Applications, Protocols and Services (NETAPPS2015), which will be held at the Auditorium of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, on December 1-3, 2015. NETAPPS2015 is hosted and co-organized by ISOC Malaysia and the UUM InterNetWorks Research Laboratory in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Mutimedia Commission (MCMC), the Internet Society (ISOC) Asia Pacific Chapters, the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Berhad (MTSFB) and the Malaysian Research and Education Networks (MYREN) InterNetWorks Working Group. NETAPPS2015 aims at providing an affordable platform to promote greater engagement from Internet researchers in Asia Pacific in the work of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF). At the moment, participation from researchers of Asia Pacific region in the IETF/IRTF activities is very much lacking. Four keynote addresses, industry talks, and more than 50 research papers spanning various topics related to Internet applications, protocols and services will be presented and discussed. Paper contributors come from more than 15 countries, namely Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Syria, USA and Yemen. Dear All, The At-Large Review Working Party is calling for comments across the At-Large Community for its Draft Charter: https://community.icann.org/x/CcRYAw. See the At-Large Review background information below. == ICANN Bylaws require independent reviews of its organisationsal effectiveness to reinforce its various accountability mechanisms to the community. The first review of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC)<https://community.icann.org/x/NxAnAw> was held from 2008 to 2012. The focus of that review was on ALAC itself because the Regional At-Large Organisations (RALOs) and their At-Large Structures (ALSs) were newly established and it would have been inappropriate to review them at that time. The current At-Large Review<https://community.icann.org/x/Y5MQAw> is underway. The focus of this Review is to examine organizational effectiveness of the At-Large community, with the focus on the five RALOs and the nearly 200 ALSs. This review is scheduled to begin approximately in April 2016 and be carried out by an Independent Examiner. Involvement of the At-Large community as well as input and participation from the broader community are important components of this review process. As discussed in ALAC Meetings, the Organizational Effectiveness Committee of the Board<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/organizational-effectiveness-committe…> has requested that an At-Large Review Working Party<https://community.icann.org/x/aZMQAw> be assembled to function as a liaison between the ALAC/At-Large community, the Independent Examiner and the Organizational Effectiveness Committee of the Board to provide input on review criteria and the At-Large assessment, coordinate interviews and objectively supply clarification and responses to the preliminary findings and recommendations. Once a final report is issued and the Board takes action on it, as appropriate, the At-Large Working Party is expected to coordinate with the At-Large community to prepare an Implementation Plan and champion implementation of improvement activities. Hi Maureen, Yes, thanks for this - that is a very important question indeed, something we¹d like to be clear about in coming up with the plan. So what the team have currently in this draft plan is as below (this being open for public comment, please do feel free to comment on it :) ). For the purposes of this plan, civil society¹ includes Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), [representatives of] non-commercial individual Internet end-users, and academia, in particular those with interests in Internet-related policy and research. Within ICANN, this will include the GNSO Non Commercial Stakeholder Group (NSCG, with both of its components the Non Commercial Users Constituency NCUC, and the Not-for-Profit Operational Concerns Constituency NPOC), as well as the At- Large community represented by regional At Large Structures (ALS) that self-identify as civil society. Not for profit organizations that serve for profit/commercial interests would not be within scope. (Relations with academia will be handled in coordination with the Development Public Responsibility Department (DPRD) academic relations activities). Updates from November activities in APRALO

Dear APRALO members, Hope you all are doing well. I would like to thank those who were able to participate in our monthly call last week and in today's webinar, which was very informative. For those who were not able to participate, I would like to share with you the monthly report, which is now available here: https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/APRALO+Secretariat+Reports+2015 As for the highlights from November I would like to let you know about the following activities, where we encourage you to visit the links and provide your feedback: The At-Large Beta Website - During November APRALO monthly call the new At-Large Beta website was presented. The link to the website is available here: https://newatlarge.icann.org/. APRALO LT worked closely with At-Large staff to provide feedback and additional documents to be posted in APRALO space. The call for comment is open also to all AP ALSs to be posted at wiki space here: Provide Your Feedback on the Beta At-Large Website. At-Large Webinar E-Books project - The At-Large Capacity Building Working Group has been holding capacity building and update webinars for a number of years and these are currently stored with the ICANN Community Website as recordings and transcripts. We have now moved to transforming this information into eBooks so that the same information can be accessed by anyone interested in how ICANN works and to encourage more IT-interested persons to join an At-Large Structure and participate in ICANN decision-making about the internet.
