Dear All, On behalf of the At-Large Capacity Building Working Group sub-team on webinars (CBWG-Webinars), we are announcing an experts survey to identify speakers for upcoming At-Large Capacity Building webinars. The CBWG-Webinars would like to have a diverse set of speakers to reflect the diversity we have within the community while examining topics from different perspectives. Given the current monthly schedule of webinars, there is no guarantee that all topics indicated in the document below will be covered within a short time frame. Topics that would be covered at any particular time depend on the need of the community in any specific time. Also, there is no guarantee that whoever indicates his/her interest to present would be asked to present. However, the CBWG-Webinars will try as much as possible to choose speakers based on their knowledge of the topic while making sure that speakers are from a diverse background. The CBWG-Webinars will make final decisions on speakers following a process of due diligence. This conference was a part of the 225 years celebrations of the College of Engineering, Guindy Campus, Anna University. The deliberations during this special session were based on: 1. Our next webinar would be on the *topic of," Social Media Governance at the Cross Roads ",* The details of the webinar are as follows: *Date: August 30, 2021* *Time: 1100 UTC* *Speaker : Prof Farzaneh Badiei;Founder, Digital Medusaat * About the speaker: Dr. Farzaneh Badiei is the founder of Digital Medusa, an initiative that focuses on protecting the core values of our global digital space with sound governance. For the past decade, Dr. Badiei has directed and led projects about Internet and social media governance. Until recently she was a research scholar at Yale Law School and led the Social Media Governance Initiative. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the Internet Governance Project at Georgia Tech. Dr. Badiei received her Ph.D. in law from the University of Hamburg, Institute of Law and Economics. Her dissertation focused on online private justice systems, institutional design, and online market intermediaries. Between 2011 and 2014, Dr. Badiei worked at the United Nations Internet Governance Forum Secretariat. About the Session Theme: Content moderation on Internet platforms has a long history on the Internet. That history is often neglected, yet we need to know about it to prepare for the future. With the influx of users to contemporary social media platforms, which can generate millions of bits of content per minute, content moderation and platform governance became the hot issue, and so they are under scrutiny by regulators around the world. User- generated content affects our social and political systems both positively and negatively. This session explores the current governance mechanisms used for platform governance and their advantages and disadvantages by looking at the past and peering into the future. The session will also address the competing pressures on platform content moderation from various stakeholders (Government, Civil Society, and Platforms) and discuss possible solutions. The session will address the need and necessity of formulating the cybersecurity policy and cyber laws which caters to the whole spectrum of ICT users and providers in any country.
