Dear All, Please find below a message sent on behalf of Cheryl Langdon-Orr, Chair of the ALAC and the BCEC. ** Dear All, As Chair of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) and the At-Large Board Candidate Evaluation Committee (BCEC), it gives me great honor to announce that following the Board passing the resolution agreeing to the Bylaws amendments needed to allow for the seating of the At-Large selected voting Board Director during their meeting earlier today (resolution available at: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/ALAC+-+Board+Resolution+on+Byla…) the BCEC has selected a slate of 3 candidates for the position. They are identified below in alphabetical order by family name: · Sébastien Bachollet · Pierre Dandjinou · Alan Greenberg The Statements of Interest (SOI) from the 3 candidates as well as the 19 other applicants reviewed are available on the At-Large Candidate Workspace (workspace available at: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+Director+Candidate+201…) The current time-line for the Board Director selected by the ALAC/At-Large Community is: · 28 October: BCEC to announce slate of 3-7 candidates and SOI details; · 28 October - 12 November: Campaigning period, including community call for candidate debate, and RALO discussions on candidates; · 15-19 November: RALO discussions on candidates continue and ALAC and RALO chairs vote for At-Large Director; · 10 December: Successful candidate takes seat on ICANN Board. Community Input on gTLD Recommendation 6 Report

Dear All, The ALAC has requested the RALOs to provide input on the Cross Community Working Group report on GNSO gTLD Recommendation number 6. Recommendation 6 states that: Strings must not be contrary to generally accepted legal norms relating to morality and public order that are recognized under international principles of law. The Report includes recommendations to improve the proposed implementation of Recommendation No. 6, related to procedures for addressing objectionable strings, while protecting internationally recognized freedom of expression rights. The public comment period on the Rec 6 report will remain open until 22 October 2010. Evan Leibovitch provided a draft document on Recommendation 6 on behalf of the At-Large community. Dear Yashar, ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) is pleased to inform you that the Information Policy Analytical Center has been certified as an At-Large Structure (ALS). The ALAC greatly appreciates your group¹s interest in involving individual users in ICANN and looks forward to working with you and your colleagues. The purpose of ALS certification is to recognize that your organization meets the necessary criteria to involve individual Internet users at the local or issue level in ICANN activities, and that your organization will support its individual members' informed participation in ICANN efforts that affect end-users. The ALAC is eager to promote a productive working relationship between your organization, other ALS, and the ALAC (and ICANN in general), and your input on how we can make this a success would be greatly appreciated. We would like to offer some initial tools to help your organization keep its members informed (about significant news from ICANN and information on ICANN policy-development efforts) and engaged in activities of interest: - Point of Contact for your Organisation: Please send an email to staff(a)atlarge.icann.org identifying the names and email addresses of one or two individuals who will be the point of contact for information and correspondence regarding ICANN At-Large.
