I love the story Wolf.. and it highlights that each individual user wears several hats and they can in fact be represented by more than one user group within ICANN. My point in case is Pua Hunter who is the Secretary of my Cook Islands ALS and a participant in APRALO. She also works for government and is one of the designated reps for the Cooks on the GAC. . When the ALAC specifies an ALS then we are focusing more on a not-for-profit GROUP activity. The associative elements that connect the ALS to the ALAC are defined. Although we communicate specifically with a primary representative, it is more the GROUP that we refer to as an ALS rather than its INDIVIDUAL members... and this is even if we may only ever deal with ONE member of the group. If the ALAC were to take issues to the INDIVIDUALS of each ALS, then this is when we would have to deal with the complexities of their roles -, which hat are we representing? and is it in conflict with another hat they wear within ICANN? This is also where individual memberships of RALOs and the ALAC could become troublesome. CCWG Proposal on Enhancing ICANN Accountability - important calls this week

Dear ALAC and At-Large Community Members, [Apologies for cross-posting - subject matter is important and time sensitive] The Cross Community Working Group (CCWG) on Accountability has published its 2nd draft report, which contains its updated proposal for enhancing ICANN’s accountability as part of the IANA Stewardship Transition process. I would like to urge you to spare some time and attention to analyze the proposal and to provide the views of the At-Large community through the public comments process, which will end on Sep12th. Your views are important because the work on accountability has implications for ICANN's governance. *To be more informed on the proposal and on the response of the ICANN Board to the proposal, I recommend that you attend the following calls this week:* (1) CCWG meeting with advisors today (31 August) at 13:00 UTC. Dear All, On behalf of Alan Greenberg, Chair of the ALAC, we would like to inform you of three webinars related to the Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG) 2nd Draft Report (Work Stream 1). Background: The CCWG-Accountability published its 2nd Draft Proposal on Work Stream 1 Recommendations for 40-day public comment on 3 August 2015. Community feedback is requested on this draft proposal of proposed enhancements to ICANN's accountability framework that the CCWG-Accountability has identified as essential to happen or be committed to before the IANA Stewardship Transition takes place. At-Large Briefing on the 2nd Draft CCWG-Accountability Proposal An At-Large Briefing on the key aspects of the 2nd Draft CCWG-Accountability Proposal with a focus on how it impacts the At-Large community, will be held on Monday, 24 August.
