Dear APRALO colleagues, It was indeed a great pleasure and unique opportunity to meet all in person. London meeting was very informative and productive. Our discussions here related to focus areas (Maureen, great summary indeed) were important and we are looking forward to see the feedback from all ALSs to move from identification to the implementation phase. As I mentioned during our GA, this is up to each and every one of us to work effectively and we already proved during London meeting that we are a very talented group of professionals, diverse but at the same united team and we can work together to improve the communication among ourselves and support many end-users, whose voices we are presenting as certified ALSs. I would like to wish each and every one safe flights back, have a good rest after full one week meetings in London and enjoy reunions with families, brothers and sisters. Dear All, Olivier Crépin-Leblond, Chair of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) has requested a call for candidates in the At-Large community for the NTIA IANA Functions’ Stewardship Transition Coordination Group (“Coordination Group”). On 6 June 2014, ICANN published a Process to Develop the Proposal and Next Steps<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/process-next-steps-2014-06-06-en> that is the culmination of a series of community discussions and input into the process to develop a proposal to transition the IANA functions to the global multistakeholder community. The process invited 13 communities to launch their internal processes to select their representative members in the Coordination Group. The upcoming Coordination Group gathering is scheduled for 17-18 July 2014 in London at the Hilton Metropole Hotel to finalize its modes of operation and working methods. To ensure transparency, the meeting will be accessible to all global stakeholders. Details of the meeting will be shared in the near future. The At-Large Sub-Committee on the Selection of Members for the IANA Stewardship Steering Committee (“Selection Committee”) is responsible for selecting two (2) candidates from the At-Large community to participate in the Coordination Group. Interested members from the At-Large community should send their Statement of Interest (SOI) to staff(a)atlarge.icann.org by Tuesday 08 July 2014 23:59 UTC. Hi Maureen First - a really GREAT summary - thanks And a thought I had this morning. What about a project to identify - and share - talents/skills within our region. Friends and Colleagues, During the Public Forum at ICANN 50 in London, Jordyn Buchanan from Google confirmed that Gmail will support EAI on their platform by the end of this month. . by the end of this month gmail is going to be the first major mail platform with full EAI support, so you'll be able to email back and forth with gmail users at least . Hi everyone I have summarised the key points that APRALO members raised during yesterdays meeting with Kuek, outlining APRALO priorities/focus areas. They are as follows: 1. COMMUNICATION APRALO is a large regino - how can we improve communication between APAC and the regions (including the diversity of end-users within these sub-regions) so that local issues are appropriately addressed and coordinated? 2. At-Large Engagement in RIR Policy Development - Issue Raised in Board Meeting with NRO/ASO today

ALAC and RALO Chairs, This morning the Board had a meeting with the NRO/ASO. The importance of At-Large community engagement in the policy development process of the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) was raised and discussed. Context: ICANN's remit covers Names and Numbers. The policy development process for Names takes place at ICANN while the policy development process for Numbers takes places place at the RIRs. It is important to have end user engagement in both. The existence of RALO-RIR MOUs is noted, but concrete engagement needs to follow-through. Issues raised: 1. Co-location of face-to-face meetings (i.e., RALO meeting in conjunction with RIR meeting) and need for ICANN funding to supplement RIR Fellowship funding. 2. Pre-meeting orientation program for ALSes to help them understand the structure and processes of the RIR before participating in the RIR meeting (face-to-face or remotely) 3. Focused participation in the Policy Development Track at RIR meetings + remote participation for those that cannot be on site 4. Participation in RIR Policy Development mailing-list (substance of RIR policy development is discussed via mailing-lists) - suggestion: RIR notification/alerts on Policy Development to be sent to RALO mailing lists so ALSes can prepare for engagement. My suggestion on follow-up: Leverage on the momentum created by the board's discussion with the NRO - RALO Chairs can follow-up with RIR Chairs respectively - RALO Chairs can discuss within RALOs on whether groups need to be formed to focus on numbers policy among ALSes - ALAC Chair can facilitate RALO interface with ICANN on funding issue Thanks!
