Country codes are traditionally a 2-letter string. The new gTLD process is enabling country and territory codes to be expanded to 3-letters (or even as whole names). The “Cross Community Working Group for the Use of Country and Territory Names as Top Level Domains” is asking: 1. Should these new 3-letter country/territory codes be reserved ONLY as ccTLDs *OR* should they be open to everyone as gTLDs? (This question refers to 3-letter code IDN ccTLDs and IDN gTLDs as well) 2. What advantages or disadvantages does your answer offer either group (ccTLDs or gTLDs)? Please return your answers to these two questions to me asap. J

Updates from APRALO September call

Dear APRALO members, Thanks all those who participated in today's monthly call. For some people the change of the date made impossible for participation and my apologies for the late notice about the change of the day. But as you all know the records and the transcript will be available soon at https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/APRALO+Monthly+2015-09-18. So, please, visit the space and read the transcripts and hear the records. As usual, I also would like to provide some updates via e-mail. During today's call we have discussed several important issues, such as: 1. APRALO outreach calendar - this calendar had been created as a result of the work of ALAC Outreach and ENgagement subcommittee and helps us to be updated on the activities your ALSs are implementing. As the discussions showed, many ALSs are doing great job and we are not aware of this. Thus, this calendar will help us first to learn about your activities, your involvement and second to inform others about outreach activities, conducted in your respective countries, as well as to identify the events, where other ALSs may participate and share their experience. The more cross posting, the more spreading the word!!! The calendar is available here: http://teamup.com/ks8f4dd46342679eea/ I would like to thank ISOC Palestine and Sri Lanka Next Generation and ISOC Philippines for already starting this process and sending us the information about their activities. And also remind to Yasuichi, Hong, Fouad, Amir and staff member from APAC HUB Kelvin, to send the information about their activities, which they also informed during today's call. All these activities will be posted in the APRALO calendar as steps for implementation of our strategy for FY16. As well as I would like to thank Lianna from ISOC Armenia for providing the updates on the First National IGF in Armenia took place on 7-8 September. The presentation also will be posted in the wiki space. 2. The upcoming webinar within the framework of APAC HUB and APRALO partnership - On September 29, at 05:00-06:00UTC the forth webinar will take place on New gLTD program/ccTLDs, run by APAC HUB.
