FY24 Additional Budget Request (ABR) Process - At-Large Process and Deadlines

Dear All, The ICANN FY24 Additional Budget Request (ABR) process has now started. The ABR process is part of the annual ICANN Operating Plan and Budget (OP&B) planning cycle. Requests reflect potential ICANN community activities that are not already included in the annual ICANN OP&B. All At-Large ABR proposals must be reviewed by the ALAC Finance and Budget Sub-Committee (FBSC<https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/ALAC+Subcommittee+on+Finance+an…>) whose principal task is the coordination of annual additional budget requests from the ALAC and RALOs, to go into the yearly ICANN budget. The FBSC is supported in its work by the At-Large Operations, Finance and Budget Working Group (OFB-WG). <https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=132940946> Please note that RALO ABR requests should be strategic and in-line with their region's Strategic Plan, the RALO's strategic outreach plans, and At-Large Priority Activities and must be endorsed by their RALO and the relevant GSE Regional Vice President prior to being submitted for consideration by the FBSC. All FY24 ABR proposals should be sent to At-Large Staff by the deadline of 23 December 2022. The FBSC will review all At-Large FY24 ABR proposals between 3-6 January 2023. Dear All, In accordance with ALAC Rule of Procedure 19.13, a motion was made within the ALAC to reappoint León Sánchez as the Board Member appointed by At-Large (Seat 15). Following the close of the vote of the ALAC in conjunction with the RALO Chairs on the motion to re-appoint León Sánchez to Seat 15 of the ICANN Board of Directors, please see the vote results below. Given the unanimous outcome of the vote on the motion, León Sánchez has been re-appointed to Seat 15. He will start his new 3 year term at the 2023 AGM. Congratulations to León! The ICANN for Beginners Virtual Program

The ICANN for Beginners Virtual Program comprises a series of interactive webinars held via Zoom and will provide participants an overview of the global Internet ecosystem. The program will also guide newcomers on how they can join the global community and help shape Internet governance. Tailored to those new to ICANN and held fully virtually, each of the one-hour webinars will focus on a specific topic of interest. The webinars will be moderated by experienced ICANN staff members with the goal to strengthen the knowledge about and foster participation at ICANN. The newcomers will come away with a better understanding of how the Internet works and importance of keeping the Internet open, free, and safe for all.
