Recommendation regarding ALS approval

My proposal: After the RALO recommends for or against approval of an ALS candidate, the RALO's recommendation shall be followed on a no objections basis: namely, if no ALAC member raises an objection, the RALO's recommendation shall be followed. If any objections are raised, a vote of [2/3 majority among all of the members of the ALAC who cast a vote, provided at least nine members of the ALAC cast a vote] shall be required to overrule the RALO's recommendation. The bracketed language is a larger margin than I would have chosen, but comes from the Bylaws. Tonight's event in San Juan

Some information about tonight that I just received: ==== Tonight's social event is in the Old Town at the Puerto Rico Tourism Company offices at La Princesa Bldg. #2 Paseo La Princesa. This is one of the old Spanish style buildings. There will be craft artisans displaying their crafts, traditional music, folk ballet. There will be finger foods and Bacardi is sponsoring the bar. Buses will be leaving the Caribe Hilton in rotation between 5pm and 7pm. If you are interested in attending, just look at the buses. -- vb. IDN Questions for ALAC Policy Priorities Workshop on Thursday June 28

You may have seen that ALAC is going to have a Workshop on June 28, 14:00-16:00. One of the topics for discussion is internationalized domain names, which is one of the policy priorities of ALAC. To make our discussions more focused, Siavash and I drafted a list of questions as follows. You're welcome to comment on, rephrase or add on to these questions by Wednesday June 27. RALO next steps?

Paul Twomey just mentioned in his President’s report the need for the RALOs to get going quickly on input to the policy processes of ICANN. He also mentioned this in both RALO meetings on Sunday. We should not focus exclusively on building up heavy structures, creating documents, rules and procedures, but we should focus on and move ahead on obtaining and transmitting the end user perspective on the main issues that are on the table at ICANN right now. Some of these are: · Protection of Registrants in relation to Registrars (RAA amendments) · IPv6 · IDNs · DNSSEC · gTLD process · ICANN Geographic Regions (a joint interest with the ccNSO) Most of these will be the subject of workshops or tutorials this week. For those of you who are here in San Juan, please make time to attend the sessions. Remote participation is available for most of the sessions as well. ALAC members who have focused on some of these issues, building specialties in certain issues, will also be available to discuss the issues with you if you want.
