Seun, The PDF pointed by your first link is the current Rules of Procedure (RoP) and the one that was quoted in earlier messages. It is pointed to by https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/Rules+of+Procedure which also includes the various other documents that are pointed to by the RoP. Your second link is to a wiki workspace (mobile version) for the group that revised the RoP several years ago. Near the top are two links that are equivalent to the two links above. The rest of that workspace had many links to the previous Rules Ror instance <https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/2262614/AL-2007-1-1-Rev11%…>ALAC/2007/1/1.Rev11 - EN points to the previous set of rules as described by the text just above the link. Later in the page are pointers to pages for individual sections that were used by the drafting committee. This entire page is preserved to document the process and will not be changed. The links at the top were added to make sure people could find the current rules. I will suggest that a warning be added so that people do not mistake the old rules for the current set. Hi everyone Some clarification please. Getting onto the ALAC is either by a RALO or NomCom appointment. Sebastian, are you saying that the process for appointment to the ALAC is flawed? What are you disagreeing with? The appointment process to the Leadership Team? This is as per our ROPs, and as Alan said, was very heatedly debated during its formulation and then endorsed by the ALAC at a time when you were on it. For 2016 I understand there are 8 new positions on the ALAC which greatly decreases the pool from which to choose experienced people for the leadership team including the role of chair, but I do not believe it decreases the quality of the applicants who remain and have been nominated for the positions. And the final decision is made by the ALAC. I totally support those who have been nominated because these are people who do the hard yards across the whole gamut of ALAC responsibility. They deserve their nominations which I believe have been made following due process. Is this what the disagreement is about or are their other issues that I am missing. However it is increasingly evident that ICANN needs a far more crisp, informed and critical ALAC than we have experienced in recent years. There is a potential vacuum in the representation of civil society and users' interests: It is likely that GAC will abstain from voting participation in the 'Member'. Civil society participants in GNSO have not reined in the contracted parties. Discussion in CCWG is moving towards codifying how the SO and AC are accountable to the 'non-ICANN community'.
