Thank you, Adam Conference announcement *ICANN and Global Internet Governance: The Road to São Paulo, and Beyond* Friday 21 March 2014, Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore A conference to be held on Friday 21 March 2014 at the ICANN 49 meeting venue, the Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore, in the Olivia Room, from 10:00 to 18:00. Organized by the NonCommercial Users Constituency (NCUC) of the Generic Names Supporting Organization, with the generous support of ICANN. The NETMundial Global Multistakeholder Meeting on the Future of the Internet Governance will be held in São Paulo, Brazil on 27-28 April 2014. Initiated by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and ICANN CEO Fadi Chehadé, and co-organized by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee and /1Net, the meeting will bring together a wide range of government, business, technical community, civil society and academic participants from around the world. The organizers describe its objectives as, "crafting Internet governance principles and proposing a roadmap for the further evolution of the Internet governance ecosystem." The purpose of this NCUC conference is to provide a first opportunity for intensive dialogue on the main substantive topics likely to be addressed in São Paulo. Stakeholders from across the ICANN community have expressed a range of views and uncertainties about the meeting’s precise substantive focus, expected outcomes, and potential significance in the continuing evolution of the global Internet governance ecosystem. Wrong Context for Deciding How to Address EBW's Questions

Dear Tijani: I have read your response to JJS's query and would wish to provide a different context for applying whether the questions from EBW should command response. I seriously doubt if the case that "Eric is not an at-large member' is good and sufficient to ignore his questions. In fact that criteria is misplaced and fundamentally at odds with the conceptual underpinnings of the At-Large's in the ICANN community and the ALAC's role in ICANN operations and governance. The At-Large is recognized as the home of the ordinary internet user in the ICANN ecosystem. While we have embraced a certain organisational framework as a management tool, active participation of any internet user in ICANN policy development is the bottomline objective So long as Eric Brunner Williams is an internet enduser and while he remains within the framework of acceptable conduct established by the At-Large thru ALAC, there can be no other membership criteria for participation. You may use other [valid] criteria to reject broadcasting his questions. And candidates have an absolute right to ignore him and not answer, again for various and sundry reasons. But a status of membership or membership criteria may not be employed as disqualifiers. And I say this as one who has been unfairly maligned by the said Eric Brunner Williams. Eric used to be part of NARALO as an individual member, He resigned from that and now is a member of an ALS. He is not entitled to vote as an ALS leader, but he is still part of the global At-Large community as a member of an ALS. This is the situation as I understand.
