However, there is currently only one French and no Spanish speaking person who expressed interest in the Briefing session. As you can imagine, it takes a considerable amount of resources to organize a multilingual presentation and it is only worth doing if there is a real interest from the non-English speaking language communities for these events. If you would like to participate in the French or Spanish channel for this meeting, please write an email to staff(a)atlarge.icann.org. What is Fast Flux? "Fast flux" is an evasion technique that cyber-criminals and Internet miscreants use to evade identification and to frustrate law enforcement and anticrime efforts aimed at locating and shutting down web sites used for illegal purposes. Fast flux hosting supports a wide variety of cyber-crime activities (fraud, identity theft, online scams) and is considered one of the most serious threats to online activities today. One variant of fast flux hosting, "double flux", exploits the domain name registration and name resolution services. Ensuring Global Voices Heard at ICANN Cairo Meeting Those interested in participating encouraged to apply to Fellowship Program http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-20may08.htm 20 May 2008 MARINA DEL REY, Calif.: The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is putting out the call for fellowship program applications for its 33rd International Public Meeting to be held in Cairo from 2-6 November 2008. "As a global organization, coordinating a bottom-up consensus driven policy process, its important that ICANN has input from every corner of the globe. The fellowship program helps ensure we have participation at ICANN meetings from people and places that may not be able to participate otherwise," said Theresa Swinehart , ICANN's Vice President, Global and Strategic Partnerships. At the most recent meeting held in New Delhi, India, in February, there were 18 fellows from 15 countries who played an active role at the meeting. They were chosen from 72 applications received. Of the fellows at the New Delhi meeting, five had been deferred from previous round selection, 11 had never attended an ICANN meeting before, and one was an alumnus from the San Juan meeting. Priority is given to applicants who are current residents of developing and least developed nations and interested in participating in ICANN and its supporting organizations, such as the Governmental Advisory Committee, the Country Code Names Supporting Organization, and the Generic Names Supporting Organization. Recipients will be expected to actively participate in and contribute to ICANN processes, both at the meeting and in the future as a member of the ICANN community.
