-------> [ENGLISH] AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION NOT REVISED FROM THE ORIGINAL MILTILINGUAL
Dear All:
Since the 31st International ICANN meeting is now just around the
corner - the first At-Large meetings start next Sunday - I wanted to
take a moment to remind everyone who will not be there in person of
the remote participation options that exist for you.
Firstly - At-Large meetings will allow you to hear, and be heard, via
telephony as per usual. You can see all the details associated with
each meeting from the main At-Large meeting page at: https://st.icann.org/alac/index.cgi?new_delhi_meeting
There are several ways for you to get connected. We have made a number
of improvements to the remote participation services, thanks in large
part to a new vendor for teleconference services for At-Large:
1) Use a freephone number local to you - see https://st.icann.org/asiapac/index.cgi/AdigoITFS_112807.jpg?action=attachme… 080121175223-0-13569
for a current list.
2) If no freephone number is available in your country, you can have
the service dial out to you via a simple web form at: http://go.adigo.com/go/outlink.php?sidr98
. *IMPORTANT NOTE: The dialling system will only work if you preface
your country code with 011 instead of 00.*
For those who are participating this way, if for some reason you're
connection drops, you can use the form above to get re-connected. You
can also contact the conference operator at the AOL/AIM ID: d4500.
The Access Code for all calls is: 1638.
More broadly, ICANN has many other public participation options for
remote participation. These include:
* Streaming audio for many sessions - it is anticipated that the audio
streams will be in multiple languages for the first time as well;
* Chat with other remote participants and the meeting participants in
New Delhi - including asking questions for panellists which will be
brought to the meeting by meeting moderators;
* Forums on various hot topics where you can electronically debate
with others.
The place to start for all of this is at http://public.icann.org.
I hope that many of you will join us remotely in New Delhi!

-------> [ENGLISH] AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION NOT REVISED FROM THE ORIGINAL MILTILINGUAL
Tuesday, 5 February 2008
TO: SchoolNet Africa
FROM: ICANN AT-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC)
SUBJECT: At-Large Structure Certification
ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) is pleased to inform you on
behalf of the At-Large community in ICANN that SchoolNet Africa has
been certified as an At-Large Structure (ALS). The ALAC greatly
appreciates your groups interest in involving individual users in
ICANN and looks forward to working with you and your colleagues.
The purpose of ALS certification is to recognize that your
organization meets the necessary criteria to involve individual
Internet users at the local or issue level in ICANN activities, and
that your organization will support its individual members' informed
participation in ICANN efforts that affect end-users.
The ALAC is eager to promote a productive working relationship between
your organization, other ALSes, and the ALAC (and ICANN in general),
and your input on how we can make this a success would be greatly
appreciated.
We would like to offer some initial tools to help your organization
keep its members informed (about significant news from ICANN and
information on ICANN policy-development efforts) and engaged in
activities of interest:
- Point of Contact for your Organisation: Please send an email
to staff(a)alac.icann.org identifying the names and email addresses of
one or two individuals who will be the point of contact for
information and correspondence regarding ICANN At-Large. If this
changes, please let us know.
- At Large Mailing Lists. There are many At Large email lists,
for each region; you can signup for them and manage your subscriptions
at: http://atlarge-lists.icann.org/mailman/listinfo The points of
contacts you identify will automatically be added to:
· Your regions discussion list;
· The worldwide At-Large discussion list.
You are of course invited to join others as you wish (excepting those
ending Staff).
- ALS information. Information about your organization will be
shared with the At-Large community to enable individuals interested in
your group's activities to contact you, and to encourage cooperation
with other groups interested in ICANN activities in your geographic
region. Please complete and email the form at the bottom of this note
to staff(a)alac.icann.org.
- At-Large related websites: There are a few websites you should
be aware of:
· The official ICANN website for the At-Large community is at http://www.alac.icann.org
. This site will be replaced with a much more up-to-date and modern
site but in the meantime it is a good source of information and has
links to all the At-Large related URLs and links to other parts of
icann.org.
· The ALAC Working Wiki: Much of the administrative and policy
development coordination work is made available and developed on the
community's wikis. Meeting agendas, recordings of meetings, minutes,
and all kinds of important documents for the whole community are to be
found to help you get 'up to speed' with the state of development of
community positions on issues you care about. Feel free to join in;
the place to start is at https://st.icann.org/alac/index.cgi?at_large_policy_working_groups
.
· At-Large Regional Websites. Regional webpages also have been
created to distribute information (including in local languages) on
activities, events and issues of particular interest to people in each
region. They are:
African Region: http://www.afralo.org/
Asia/Australia/Pacific Region: http://www.apralo.org/
European Region: http://www.euralo.org/
Latin America/Caribbean Region: http://www.lacralo.org/
North American Region: http://www.naralo.org/
- Regional WiKi: Each At Large Region has a Wiki that allows the
region to collaborate and all ALSes are welcome to have edit
privileges to help provide information on their activities. These
wikis create the regional websites shown above. The staff will create
accounts on the AFRALO site for your designated contacts once you've
sent them that information.
We look forward to working with you and your organization's members to
advance individual Internet users' interests within ICANN. If you
have any questions, or need additional information, please contact us

O comitê consultivo Em-Grande de ICANN's (ALAC) é satisfeito

TO: SchoolNet Africa
FROM: ICANN At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC)
SUBJECT: At-Large Structure Certification
ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) is pleased to inform you on
behalf of the At-Large community in ICANN that SchoolNet Africa has
been certified as an At-Large Structure (ALS). The ALAC greatly
appreciates your groups’ interest in involving individual users in
ICANN and looks forward to working with you and your colleagues.
· Your region’s discussion list;
· The worldwide At-Large discussion list.
You are of course invited to join others as you wish (excepting those
ending –Staff).
· The ‘official’ ICANN website for the At-Large community is at http://www.alac.icann.org
Meeting agendas, recordings of meetings, minutes,
and all kinds of important documents for the whole community are to be
found to help you get 'up to speed' with the state of development of
community positions on issues you care about. Feel free to join in;
the place to start is at https://st.icann.org/alac/index.cgi?at_large_policy_working_groups
.
· At-Large Regional Websites. Regional webpages also have been
created to distribute information (including in local languages) on
activities, events and issues of particular interest to people in each
region. They are:
African Region: http://www.afralo.org/
Asia/Australia/Pacific Region: http://www.apralo.org/
European Region: http://www.euralo.org/
Latin America/Caribbean Region: http://www.lacralo.org/
North American Region: http://www.naralo.org/
- Regional WiKi: Each At Large Region has a Wiki that allows the
region to collaborate and all ALSes are welcome to have edit
privileges to help provide information on their activities. These
wikis create the regional websites shown above. The staff will create
accounts on the AFRALO site for your designated contacts once you've
sent them that information.
We look forward to working with you and your organization's members to
advance individual Internet users' interests within ICANN. If you
have any questions, or need additional information, please contact us
at alac(a)atlarge-lists.icann.org

Dear All:
The Stability and Security Advisory Committee has just released an
updated report on Fast-Flux Hosting and the DNS, which can be accessed
here: http://www.icann.org/committees/security/sac025.pdf
From the introduction of the report:
"Fast flux" is an evasion technique that cyber-criminals and Internet
miscreants use to evade identification and to frustrate law
enforcement and anticrime efforts aimed at locating and shutting down
web sites used for illegal purposes. Fast flux hosting is an
application of technology that supports a wide variety of cyber-crime
activities (fraud, identity theft, online scams) and is considered one
of the most serious threats to online activities today. Basic fast
flux hosting uses rapid modification of IP addresses associated with a
system that hosts a malicious activity to evade detection and take
down efforts. This technique is also used to rapidly modify the IP
addresses of the name servers that resolve the domain names of the
fluxed malicious hosts (this variant is sometimes called NS fast
flux). A particularly troublesome variant of fast flux hosting,
"double flux", fluxes addresses of both name servers and malicious
(web server) hosts.
This Advisory describes the technical aspects of fast flux hosting and
fast flux service networks. It explains how the DNS is exploited to
abet criminal activities that employ fast flux hosting, identifying
the impacts of fast flux hosting, and calling particular attention to
the way such attacks extend the malicious or profitable lifetime of
the illegal activities conducted using these fast flux techniques. It
describes current and possible methods of mitigating fast flux hosting
at various points in the Internet. The Advisory discusses the pros and
cons of these mitigation methods, identifies those methods that SSAC
considers practical and sensible, and recommends that appropriate
bodies consider policies that would make the practical mitigation
methods universally available to registrants, ISPs, registrars and
registries (where applicable for each).

Caro Tudo:
http://www.icann.org/committees/security/sac025.pdf
hospedam e fast redes do serviço do fluxo.
hospedam, e chamando a atenção particular à maneira tais ataques
conduzidas usando estas técnicas rápidas do fluxo.
vários pontos no Internet.

http://www.icann.org/committees/security/sac025.pdf
-- Respect,
