At-Large wiki migration to Confluence - update

Dear All, The migration of the At-Large wiki pages from Social Text to Confluence is nearly complete. Staff have been working closely with the ALAC Chair, Cheryl Langdon-Orr, over the last several weeks to ensure that the migration meets all of the requested elements in terms of content and format. To allow IT to staff to fully migrate all At-Large pages as well as to give all members of the At-Large community the opportunity to participate in two At-Large Confluence training sessions scheduled for Wednesday, 29 September and Thursday, 30 September, the official go-live date of the At-Large Confluence wiki will now be Friday, 1 October. During the next week, we encourage you to browse the At-Large Confluence site. To access this page, log in to your Confluence account by going to: http://community.icann.org <http://community.icann.org/> and clicking on the Log In link on the right hand side of the page. Once you have logged-in, the At-Large Community tab is located on the upper left hand side of the page. We look forward to your comments! I would like to inform you that the AFRALO workshop took place the first day of the IGF at the first time slot (9:00-11:00), exactly at the same time as the ICANN open forum, and yet, it was a very big success: The room was full from the beginning to the end, and we finished later than 11:00, and people didn't want to leave the room. 2 members of the ICANN Board attended the whole workshop and participated in the debate. The Chairman of the ICANN board attended the last part and also participated in the debate. We were asked by the IGF secretary to intervene in the main session about the Internet critical resources. We gave the feedback of our workshop and additional inputs concerning the new gTLD program and the work of the JAS Working Group about the support to be given to needy applicants for new gTLD. AFRALO today has a high visibility and consideration not only in the ICANN environment, but also in the IGF one. ------------------------------------- Merci Michel pour tes encouragements. J'aimerai t'informer que le workshop d'AFRALO a eu lieu le premier jour de l'IGF à la première heure (9:00-11:00), exactement à la même heure que le "Open Forum" d'ICANN. Malgré tous ces facteurs, c'était un veritable succès. La salle était pleine du bébut jusqu'à la fin. Nous avions même dépassé le temps prévu, et les gens ne voulaient pas quitter la salle. 2 membres du conseil d'administration d'ICANN ont assisté plein temps et ont participé aux débats. Le président du conseil est venu plus tard et il a aussi intervenu dans les débats. Le secrétariat de l'IGF nous a demandé d'intervenir dans la session principale sur les ressources critiques de l'Internet. Nous avions donné un appercu sur les travaux de notre workshop, et des contributions sur le programme des nouveaux gTLD et les travaux du working group sur le soutien à apporter aux demandeurs des nouveaux gTLD qui ont besoin d'assistance. Announcement of At-Large Director Applicants

Dear All, A total of 43 Statements of Interest were received by the Board Candidate Evaluation Committee for the position of At-Large Board Director. Out of these 43 applications, 21 were deemed to be too incomplete to proceed further. The remaining 22 Statements of the Interest will be considered based on the established criteria. The names of the 22 applicants and the BCEC selected slate of 5-7 candidates will be released in October. Statistics of the 22 completed Statements of Interest show a globally diverse pool with a wide array of professional backgrounds. From the 22 completed Statements of Interest, 16 applicants are not currently active in the At-Large community while 6 are currently active. Male applicants (18) make up the vast majority of applicants with only 4 female applicants. Thanks Heidi, In addition to Mr. Tijani's concerns expressed by members during the teleconference with regards to TRANSIT. One countries where DIRECT FLIGHTS are possible from host countries do not need transit visas. Secondly, there are a lot of foreign airlines that take passnegers to other countries other their own (airline's countries) and do not require TRANSIT visas to take passengers via their own country to these countries. For example, if I were to fly to China with Emmirates, I do not need a transit visa to United Arab Emmirates to be taken to China-supposing China were to give me an entry visa at their Port of Entry, as slong as there is an official document from the Columbia Forign Affairs Ministry. The time to start this preparation is NOW. We should not because of some isolated experiences disregard the option of exploring best way possible to ensure full participation.
