The Nominating Committee is charged with recruiting and selecting a portion of ICANN’s leadership. The Nominating Committee is mandated to ensure that ICANN’s overall leadership is diverse in geography, culture, skills, experience, and perspective. Selectees should have the following basic criteria: - Have integrity, objectivity, and sound judgment. - Support decision-making within groups. - Work effectively in English. - Understand ICANN’s mission and operation. - Are committed to ICANN’s success. - Have experience in world affairs. - Contribute to cultural, professional, and geographic expertise. - Can work long and hard, generally as volunteers, for the global public trust. An Independent Body at the Community’s Service Zahid Jamil, the Chair of the 2018 Nominating Committee, shared the following statement about the 2018 Nominating Committee and its results: “I am pleased to announce that the 2018 Nominating Committee has completed the task assigned to it by the ICANN community. The selection of all positions shown above was finalized by the Nominating Committee at ICANN62 in Panama City, Panama. Selections for all Board positions were decided unanimously. I want to thank the Nominating Committee for its work and dedication, in working constructively and efficiently together to reach final agreement. I would also like to thank the Chairs of the Advisory Committees, Supporting Organizations, Stakeholder Groups and Constituencies for their support with outreach and recruitment as well as theirs and the Board’s assistance in identifying criteria for the positions to be filled by the NomCom this year. I encourage the community to continue its outreach activity to assist the 2019 NomCom in recruiting candidates for selection next year. It is my belief that the improvements of the process implemented this year, in part based upon recommendations of previous years, played an integral role in ensuring the efficiency as well as the integrity and resilience of the Nomcom. In particular, the effect of the face-to-face meeting, the early planning, setting criteria in advance, focus on recruitment resources, greater communication (including multiple visits by and to the ACs and SOs by the NomCom) played a very constructive role - just to mention a few. I would also like to thank the Chair of the Board, the Board Governance Committee, the General Counsel’s Office, and in particular the stellar staff that supported the NomCom this year. Last but not least I would like to thank Damon Ashcraft and Hans Petter Holen for supporting me on the Leadership Team throughout the year.” During ICANN63 in Barcelona, the Nominating Committee will present the ICANN community with a final report detailing its work and providing in-depth data on the applications received. Regional Breakdown of Applicants The 2018 Nominating Committee received 109 applications from candidates all over the world (33 women and 76 men) during its nomination period, which took place from 31 January 2018 to 19 March 2018. Nanghaka, the Chair of the ALAC Sub-Committee on Outreach and Engagement (O&E), we would like to announce the Call for Nominations for the co-Chairs of this Sub-Committee. The criteria and expectations of for the O&E Co-Chairs are as follows: A..The criteria for the O&E co-Chairs are as follows: 1. Must be selected by their RALOs 2. Must be prepared to attend monthly meetings of the O&E 3. Must be prepared to report on regional O&E activities 4. Must record these activities on their respective RALO O&E workspace. 5. Must be prepared to meet with other co-Chairs on a skype chat group for strategic planning sessions 6. Must be willing to participate in any O&E program in conjunction with ICANN partner organizations 7. Must be prepared to be a rapporteur for the Chair of an O&E working group 8. Briefly, Bram Fudzulani, has been the Vice President ICT Association of Malawi, He could be best described as a Cyber Security Evangelist, in addition to having been ICANN Fellow.
