The ICANN76 Community Forum will be held in Cancún, Mexico at the Cancún International Convention Center <https://www.cancuncenter.com/> (CICC) Center from 11-16 March 2023. This meeting will take place as a hybrid event https://www.icann.org/en/announcements/details/icann76-community-forum-loca… As usual, we plan to hold the Joint AFRALO-AfrICANN meeting and as we are so close to the date of meeting, we would like to invite you to urgently submit topics for this session. For your information our previous statements have focused on issues like: Universal Acceptance as a means of accessing the Internet in local languages,Domain Name System (DNS) Abuse, Universal Acceptance, evolving the ICANN Multistakeholder model, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), New gTLD Subsequent Procedures, enhancing ICANN accountability, etc. Please see our previous statements here https://community.icann.org/display/AFRALO/Joint+AFRALO-AfrICANN+Statements… our last statement (ICANN 75) <https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/5996930/FINAL%20version%20…> These wide ranges of topics mentioned above are given as examples. Of course, you may suggest other topics. As is the norm, the topic that receives the most support will be selected. Dear AFRALO Members, Kindly note that there’s a call for ALSs to join the Universal Acceptance (UA) Day by submitting proposals through this google form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1HeAEqv7ox5RzAcsSWPBRSvSdYo4w83URnly94BkZcV…> ALSs can contribute to UA Day by organizing an event to promote UA on 28 March 2023. Note however, events should focus around one of the following types of engagement sessions: * Organize a UA Awareness session: provide a high-level overview of UA and Email Address Internationalization (EAI), the benefits of being UA-ready, basic technical concepts related to UA, and next steps to become UA-ready. * Organize a UA Technical Training session: provide in-depth training on becoming EAI-ready for email system administrators and on becoming UA-ready for developers. * Organize a UA Strategy session: discuss appropriate mechanisms to promote UA adoption at the regional level. Hi Seun, I think that Morroco is definitely was chosen by ICANN to hold potential meeting in Africa , for logistics and stability reason, but I'm personally with extending list of African country that may held meeting, so I do support your proposal. Dear All, On behalf of Jonathan Zuck, Chair of the ALAC, this is a call for Expressions of Interest (EoIs) to represent the ALAC/At-Large as either an ICANN Fellowship Mentor or Fellowship Selection Committee representative. Details of the ICANN Fellowship Mentor and the Fellowship Selection Committee positions are noted below. ICANN Fellowship Mentor Responsibilities Eligibility for Fellowship Mentors: * Mentors support up to eight fellows per meeting. Mentors will assist newcomers and returning fellows to become actively involved in the ICANN community and its policy development processes, working groups, and regional work. * Mentors generally must plan on a time commitment of approximately 30-40 hours before, during, and immediately after each ICANN Public Meeting. This includes extensive pre-meeting preparation, support for their assigned fellows during ICANN meetings, and post-meeting reporting. * Each mentor will serve a term that includes three consecutive ICANN Public Meetings, beginning with ICANN78. * The role is open to all experienced community members; mentors are not required to have been involved previously with the Fellowship Program. * Mentors are expected to follow Fellowship Program guidelines [icann.org]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.icann.org/resources/pages/fellowship…> to help ensure consistency in capacity development opportunities for fellows and to help fellows actively participate in ICANN's work. * Mentors will receive travel funding support (if applicable). Fellowship Selection Committee Responsibilities The ICANN Fellowship Selection Committee is responsible for assessing all applications for the ICANN Fellowship<https://www.icann.org/fellowshipprogram> received through the online application system. Selection Committee members will then determine which applicants have best met the posted Applicant Selection Criteria<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/fellowship-applicant-criteria-2016-09…>. A time commitment of approximately 30-40 hours over four to five weeks is required (for each application round). Additional responsibilities: * Support outreach efforts of the Fellowship Program * Work closely with Fellowship Program staff to follow the implementation and evaluation process * Update criteria for Fellowship selection regularly (every two years) Members of the Fellowship Selection Committee shall serve for a total of two years (6 application rounds).
