I for one was having problems with the Word files, which were very slow and kept crashing for me, plus keeping the versions apart was confusing to me. Accordingly, when I found some time to continue the review of the list codepoints I had promised earlier, I took the time to convert it into a Google Docs Spreadsheets documents, which is like an Excel file but stored in the cloud and it can be edited in the browser. All changes are tracked and saved automatically, so ideally we can stop worrying about version control. I am still in the progress of walking through the list of codepoints. However I'm sharing it with you now so we can continue collaborating on it while I go on with my own review. We can always export the work from their back to an Excel or any other spreadsheet file (including all earlier versions under automatic version control) should the need arise. It offers nearly all other features of Excel, including features such as comments and highlights we all know from Word. Please let me know if you have any Google (Apps) account so I could invited you directly to edit and take ownership of the document (currently it is associated with my own Google account) so it will become accessible to all LGP members and so we could share the administration of our repository of documents also in the future. Similarly and again for the sake of simplicity of collaboration, I plan to transfer the draft for the actual proposal from Word into a Google Docs Text document. I hope this will prove helpful and enable us to collaborate easier and make some progress, even during our transitioning period from one chair to another (set of) chairs. Future of LGP and the vacant chair

Dear colleagues, it is really sad that Chris had to step down from the position as chair. I'm glad that we had him for so long and I am impressed at the amount of work he saw through together with the group. I suggest we discuss how to go on from here - What do you all think is the future of LGP? I think we need a chair, who ideally should receive strong secretariat support from ICANN to help organize the re-occurring chores of such a position, such as setting up calendar events, scheduling meetings, setting polls, helping with the infrastructure of shared documents, etc. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to dedicate that much time to our group and therefore can not volunteer for such a role. However, I suggest we communicate to see if anyone among is able and ready to take such a position either temporarily, or ideally permanently. If there is no one for the moment, I assume we should talk about if and how we could operate without, a chair, or if structural changes are needed (multiple/split chairs) or if we should start reaching out to the community again until someone presents her or himself with enough support from the group and the community. Whatever road we take, I would wish for us to find a way to continue with this project. We have made good progress from my point of view and I believe this is important work. Best wishes, Meikal

Request for Feedback: Reference Label Generation Rulesets (LGRs) for the Second Level

Dear Latin GP members, ICANN has recently released reference second level LGRs for multiple languages including those using Latin script. In order to promote consistency of these LGRs with the work being done for the root zone, to the extent possible, we would like to invite the Latin GP to review the LGRs proposed for the Latin script based languages and let us know the feedback. We will use the feedback to update the proposed reference LGRs. Please see the details of the public comment announcement below. Dear Latin GP members, Please join me to welcome Scott Emblen-Jarrett as the newest member of Latin GP. Scott is a translator and, as an introduction, says "I am a keen linguist and in addition to my undergraduate studies at UCL (BA Dutch & Spanish) I have studied a large number of languages and dialects and I continue to pursue numerous language projects" and has "interest in the indigenous languages of Australia and the Americas."
