First version of the work schedule

Dear colleagues, Please find attached a work schedule for comment. The final version will form part of our panel formation proposal. The schedule was calculated based on a presumption that we continue with the same level of resources we have now, also that things take roughly the same time as they did for the AGP. * Learning from the AGP means we may move more quickly. * However, we have more code points to cover, a smaller team and related scripts. * Another factor that makes a big difference (4 months or so) is variants. Considerations in the use of the Latin script advised against our recognizing them, but cross-script variants (e.g. A, K, T, etc. with Russian) may need to be recognized and there are some possible candidates (LATIN SMALL LETTER A and LATIN SMALL LETTER ALPHA come to mind) for in-script variants. In summary, the current schedule is probably too relaxed, especially if we can get more help or we don't need to recognize variants. Dear colleagues, I now know that I completely misunderstood yesterday's email. I thought it was about the panel formation proposal. Actually it was about the work schedule. I've had a horrible head cold and I guess I wasn't picking up detail. Anyway, this means that there is no longer a hurry over the things I asked for earlier. On the other hand, if any of you were to send me them now, I wouldn't say no, as they will be needed fairly soon (and I've even attached the right file this time). Dear colleagues, We have been working towards the ICANN Marrakech meeting as a deadline for the creation of the panel formation proposal. ICANN asked me yesterday if it would be possible to move more quickly. I do have some time to do the heavy lifting required during the next few weeks and so I am hoping to create a draft by Dec. 23 and a complete proposal by Jan. 15. We may also discover that there is a show-stopper, most likely lack of expertise in some area. At least we will find out if we have a problem. Please send me as soon as possible the following information: * A CV that you would be happy to have attached to the proposal. * Your name, position, organization, country and language expertise as you would like it to appear in the report. p.7 * Your role and relevant expertise. p.9 I have attached the Arabic LGR proposal, as it is a useful template. Apologies to Sarmad - he raised U+01C3 ( LATIN LETTER RETROFLEX CLICK) in the Chat window, and I managed to miss it. I shall add it to the table. It is excuded from MSR2: * punctuation * limited or declining use (educational) It seems that LATIN SMALL LETTER DOTLESS I has IDNA version issues similar to ß (discussed in the meeting). I shall add a note. Mirjana has pointed out: - LATIN SMALL LETTER G WITH ACUTE is used in the Romanization of Macedonian. - The Bugis language uses LATIN SMALL LETTER SCHWA. I'll add a note about it. Let me know if you can't make the meeting on Jan. 5th at 17:00 UTC and would prefer it to be on Jan. 12th. We will be looking at the Draft Panel Formation Proposal [https://community.icann.org/display/croscomlgrprocedure/Draft+Panel+Formati…] especially the schedule, the list of languages and any other parts which are near completion. Regards, Chris. == Meeting notes 1. Chris Dillon, Hazem Hezzah, Sarmad Hussain, Meikal Mumin, Mert Saka, Mirjana Tasic 2. We were able to finish our first look at the Latin part of MSR2. Chris will circulate version 6 in the near future with African edits from Meikal and Turkish edits from Mert. Also: Notes on Laz, Wakhi and ß. "The original IDNA 2003 protocol didn't support several characters properly and one of those was "ß". It was interpreted as mere 'ss'. So "faß.de" domain (for example) was processed as "fass.de", ignoring the national character. http://devblog.plesk.com/2014/12/what-is-the-problem-with-s/" A reference for the Alphabet National du Tchad will be added. This will affect several code points in the table. Does anybody have similar references* for the Pan-Nigerian Alphabet or the African Reference Alphabet? I shall add notes on these. * i.e., "detailed references that link each included code point to a reference providing data for justifying its inclusion" I shall add something about the status of Romanizations, especially "educational use" and the use of n and m with tone marks in Pinyin. Also something about how many people constitute a "large community" (i.e., "in widespread modern customary use by large communities"). Vowels with breves may be used in Vietnamese languages. I shall add a note on LATIN SMALL LETTER ALPHA and LATIN SMALL LETTER SCHWA, which could be candidates for in-script variants with LATIN SMALL LETTER A and LATIN SMALL LETTER TURNED E, respectively. 3. Chris has made good progress on the schedule part of the Draft Panel Formation Proposal and will release it within the next few days. 4.
