Hi all, so far I have seen the following responses. 12:00 Mirjana 15:30 Fiammetta 16:50 Mats 17:15 Bill 17:35 Hazem 18:50 Michael It seems that Mirjana is on her own arriving far too early. ;-) Then Fiammetta could decide whether she would like to wait for the others or take taxi on her own, too. Mats, Bill, and Hazem are quite close to each other and could share a taxi. I on the other hand seem to arrive too late and would have to go by myself, too (unless someone likes spending time at the airport). Dear colleagues, Here are some notes from the Latin GP Repertoire group conference call held on June 6th, 2017. If I missed some discussions, please correct me. How to proceed with work After discussion, the members have agreed to the following: 1. Mirjana will try to produce draft Principles starting from Ahmed’s Proposal for Principles of inclusion and exclusions of code points for Latin Script LGR for the Root Zone. 2. Meikal has proposed the following approach for getting some experience before finalizing Principles: a. Produce a list of EGIDS scale 1 languages and put it on Google Docs or something for everyone to see b. Ask Latin GP members by an email the group, if they would like to volunteer to pick one or two languages of their own liking from that list, and make note of their individual choice in that list, for example in a column c. The volunteer could then research and see what kind of information she or he can find, documenting the letters and other marks used by that language, and the equivalent code points d. Take note of the entire set of information (screenshot, copy & paste a list, whatever works) e. Take note of such cases, which the volunteer is finds complicated for whatever reason f. Let's discuss the whole experience and the complicated cases and the difficulties faced in researching Meikal further discussion: “We can always reuse that information to feed into the final proposal. I think that exercise will give us all an idea how easy or difficult it may be to identify the letters and other marks used by a language and to match them up with code points. I think this practical approach will be more helpful in understanding rather than doing permutation of what may or may not be possible in orthographies. The aim is to understand which type of letters and marks may become complicated so that we should decide as a group eventually how to deal with such cases generally, and express that decision in a set of principles Obviously, this suggestion takes as starting point that we analyze the repertoire language by language, not code point by code point for example, starting with the most widely used ones, as suggested by their individual EGIDS rating, and this also implies that we actively confirm the use of single code points, rather than exclude code points available for use in MSR-2.” 3. Mirjana has proposed to produce instruction how to proceed with language processing based on the previous experience, when group was trying to figure out how many minutes is necessary to process one language. Some organization is necessary so that we shall not duplicate our efforts, and keep track what languages are processed. Members of the Repertoire group should do their best to try to process at least 3 languages using provided instructions.

Meikal mentioned that Mirjana suggested in her previous instructions to Repertoire group, that every member was asked to process 3-5 languages, instead 1-2, before F2F meeting. Please, Repertoire group members, try to process 1-2 languages before F2F meeting using the document Draft instructions. IV. Agenda for the Istanbul meeting After some discussion on Agenda for Istanbul meeting, GP members have agreed that one second day time slot, should be devoted to Instructions how to attest letters in Latin repertoire. Instructions for processing languages before our F2F meeting

Dear GP Repertoire group members Please find in the attachment instructions how to proceed with language processing. These instructions are the initial one. It took me more time than I expected. I hope you will all find the time to process at least 3 – 5 languages. If anything appears during processing, and it is not explained in the instructions, please write a note in free form somewhere, and take these notes with you. We shall discuss these issues during our F2F meeting. If some instructions are not clear, please do not hesitate to rise the problem. We shall correct the instructions as our work progress.
