Dear All, On behalf of Alan Greenberg, Chair of the ALAC, we would like to invite you to the At-Large Briefing call on DNSSEC key roll-over being planned by ICANN. This At-Large Briefing Session will feature Matt Larson, Vice President of Research for the CTO office at ICANN, who will give a presentation and answer questions on the upcoming DNSSEC root key-signing key (KSK) rollover being planned by ICANN. The root KSK is the most important cryptographic key in the DNS security extensions, or DNSSEC. DNSSEC protects end users from receiving spoofed data and prevents attacks such as being misdirected to a malicious web site. This cryptographic key will be changed, or rolled over, in late 2017. While the actual change isn't happening until next year, an important aspect of the project is getting the word out to those who need to know about the change and take action, such as network administrators and software developers. Announcement on IANA Stewardship Transition

Dear Members of the At-Large Community, *The IANA Stewardship Transition is Complete* Today, on 1 October, the IANA functions contract between ICANN and NTIA expired. The expiration of the contract between ICANN and the United States National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), to perform the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions, will have no impact on end users of the Internet; they will not see any changes or difference in their use of the Internet. This historic moment marks the transition of the coordination and management of the Internet’s unique identifiers to the private-sector, a process that has been committed to and underway since 1998. The ICANN Community, Board and staff as well as the larger Internet community took on this challenge, over two and a half years, and succeeded. Developing the transition proposals was unprecedented, and reflected the multistakeholder community at work. Because of the hard work by everyone, the ICANN organization is now a more accountable and transparent body. English below ————————— Cher tous, La transition de la supervision des fonctions de l’IANA du gouvernement des Etats Unis d’Amérique (EUA) à la communauté est désormais chose faite après le rejet de la court d’une demande urgente de bloquer la transition présentée par les avocats généraux de 4 états républicains aux EUA. ICANN est entrée dans une nouvelle ère, avec de nouveaux statuts et de nouvelles règles de gouvernance. Ces changements ne doivent en aucun cas affecter le bon fonctionnement de l’Internet, sa stabilité et sa sécurité. —————————— Dear all, The transition of the IANA functions stewardship from the US Government to the multi-stakeholder community is now done after the rejection by the court of an emergency request to block the transition sought by 4 Republican state (of the USA) attorneys general, who argued it would be unconstitutional and could violate free speech. ICANN is entring a new era with new bylaws and new rules of governance.
