Call for a theme for the Joint AFRALO/AfrICANN Meeting at ICANN58 Copenhagen

[English] Dear Colleagues and Friends, As we have done during the previous ICANN meetings, we will be holding a joint AFRALO/AfrICANN meeting to discuss issues or subjects of interest to our region at the scheduled ICANN 58 meeting in Copenhagen, which takes place from 11-16 March 2017. The purpose of this message therefore is to ask you to please, suggest a theme you think would be the most pertinent in this regard. We are also looking forward for presentation of a “joint statement” to the attention of ICANN at the end of this meeting. We would appreciate your proposal being sent before 10 February 2017. Please note that beyond the 10th of February, if we do not receive any proposal; the leadership of AFRALO will constitute a drafting committee that will decide the theme and propose to the Community a draft statement to ICANN. This statement will be discussed at the meeting in Copenhagen.The subject chosen should be relevant to the interest of two organizations: AfrICANN and AFRALO. It should be noted that the interest of this tradition is to express the point of view of the African ICANN community on current issues of interest to the ICANN community. Le but de ce message est de vous demander de bien vouloir proposer un thème que vous pensez être le plus pertinent à cet égard. Cette déclaration sera discutée à la réunion à Copenhague.Le sujet choisi devra avoir l’approbation des deux listes AfrICANN et AFRALO. BCEC Announces the Final Slate of ICANN Board Director Candidates Selected by the At-Large Community

Dear All, The optional Regional At-Large Organization (RALO) petition process<https://atlarge.icann.org/news/announcement-987-2016-12-19-en> in the ICANN Board Director selection did not result in any successful petition to add names to the BCEC Slate of Candidates and this stage of the process has now concluded. Hence, the Final Slate of Candidates, who were selected by the BCEC<https://atlarge.icann.org/news/announcement-985-2016-12-16-en> and will go forward to the next stage of the selection process organized by the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC), are (listed in alphabetical order of the last name): * Alan Greenberg (Canada) * Leon Felipe Sanchez Ambia (Mexico) EoIs of the Final Slate of Candidates You may view the EoIs (with personal and private information removed) of the Final Slate of Candidates HERE<https://community.icann.org/x/N6bDAw>. Next Steps In the coming weeks before the start of the final election, the BMSPC will organize activities and mechanisms that facilitate the interactions between the At-Large Community Members and the Final Slate of Candidates. The methods of interaction will incorporate input from ALAC Members, RALO members, and the Final Slate of Candidates themselves. The BMSPC will announce the planned interactions in due course. Dear Colleagues, I would like to inform you that the European Regional At-Large Organization (EURALO) concluded its vote on adding Sébastien Bachollet to the Final Slate for the ICANN Board Director position selected by the At-Large Community.
