Dear Seun, ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) is pleased to inform you that (203) Open Source Software Foundation for Africa been certified as an At-Large Structure (ALS). The ALAC greatly appreciates your group's interest in involving individual users in ICANN and looks forward to working with you and your colleagues. The purpose of ALS certification is to recognize that your organization meets the necessary criteria to involve individual Internet users at the local or issue level in ICANN activities, and that your organization will support its individual members' informed participation in ICANN efforts that affect end-users. The ALAC is eager to promote a productive working relationship between your organization, other ALS, and the ALAC (and ICANN in general), and your input on how we can make this a success would be greatly appreciated. Dear Friends and Colleagues, I would like to bring to your attention ICANN’s’ “*NextGen@ICANN*” Program. This program is tailored to *youth between the ages of 18-30 years*. It assists this age group in better understanding how the Internet runs, gives them the chance to make their voice heard within the global Internet community, and gives them the opportunity to connect with a robust global Internet community. This program is expected to run during each and every ICANN meeting. Nevertheless, *this specific call (this email) is for the ICANN Marrakech Meeting number 52 during February 8-12, 2015*. *Conditions to Apply* 1. Living / studying in the Arab region, West Asia, or Africa; 2. Must be between the ages of 18 and 30; 3. Able to spend an entire week participating in the ICANN meeting; 4. Interested in Internet Governance, the future of the Internet, and other topics covered at the ICANN meeting; and 5. Willing to present a 10-15 minute project at the meeting. This could be a presentation of research you've done, an activity you're doing related to ICANN's work, a website you're affiliated with that is related to ICANN's work, a thesis project you're working on, etc. This presentation will be attended by ICANN community members, ICANN staff, as well as your NextGen peers. Dear Tijani, Sorry, may be I miss the points but the paragraph (iii) of the ICG charter says otherwise...https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/draft-charter-coord… Additionally, there are many upcoming sessions to be organized by ICANN, Afrinic and others to discuss this ongoing process...This will definitely help improve broader participation and give chance to interested stakeholders to express their views and concerns moving forward. Yes, I agree with you, "Regional representation" is not clearly expressed when it comes to the composition of the ICG but when someone from Africa talk about IANA functions, it will certainly have an African perspective in mind even hi is representing a more larger community. For example, Adiel even he is representing the RIRs knows very well what is good for Africa moving forward with this process. I guess the same is true for Mohamed, Mary and Manel.... Just trying to understand where the problem is with the so called "balanced representation"... Thank you for your understanding. I wonder what others think. Hello all, First it's a +1 from me on Victor's first suggestion of updating the theme to reflect that fact that it's an oversight transition. On your second point @Victor I think I understand your view which is simply saying "...why mention it when the deed has been done" this also came up during the drafting and just like Tijani has said, the motive behind the inclusion is not to change the composition but rather to ensure that the imbalance nature of the ICG does not influence decision making within the group. And we should propose concrete solutions to do so rather than just saying it.
