WG: - news - [ISOC] The Future of the Internet Governance Forum

Dear all, I guess that many of you have not realised the devastating decision of the last extraordinary meeting of the United Nation's Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) on 6 December to create a Working Group on Improvements to the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) with a membership made up *only of governments*! As you can see below, ISOC has joined the International Chamber of Commerce - Business Action to Support the Information Society, the Internet Governance Caucus, and many other Internet, business, and civil society organizations in sending a letter to the CSTD, asking them to retract their previous decision and to establish an appropriately constituted Working Group that ensures the full and active participation of governments, the private sector and civil society from both developing and developed countries, involving relevant intergovernmental and international organizations and forums. Confirmation of EURALO’s ALAC succession

Dear all, as you may remember, Patrick Vande Walle resigned from his position as a EURALO-elected ALAC member on 20 November. For his succession on the remaining ALAC term he suggested Olivier Crépin-Leblond and this was promptly supported by Wolfgang and me. In the meantime, no other nomination was suggested on this list or directly to me. As Patrick resigned with effect of termination of the ongoing ICANN AGM in Cartagena, we need to confirm the succession now. Therefore let me suggest: if no objections are raised between this announcement and Friday 10 December at 12:00 UTC, Olivier Crépin-Leblond will be officially confirmed by EURALO for the completion of Patrick’s remaining ALAC term.
