**VERSION FRANÇAISE À LA SUITE DE LA VERSION ANGLAISE ** ** Dear All, On behalf of Maureen Hilyard, Chair of the ALAC, we would like to announce that the 2021 call for nominations is now open for positions to be filled as ALAC Members, RALO Leaders and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom. Positions Open: Please refer to the 2021 ALAC and RALO Elections, Selections and Appointments Workspace <https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/2021+ALAC+and+RALO+Elections%2C…> for a comprehensive list of all available positions and whether current holders of the positions are eligible for re-selection. Terms: * ALAC: Terms for the ALAC will run from the end of the 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) to the end of the 2023 AGM. * RALO Leadership: Terms for the RALO Leadership will be as noted on the individual RALO election pages. All terms will start at the end of the 2021 AGM. * ALAC Delegates to the NomCom: Voting members of the NomCom are appointed for a one year term, starting at the close of the 2021 AGM and ending at the close of the 2022 AGM and may be re-appointed for a further term of one year subject to the requirement under the ICANN Bylaws<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_resource…>. Each RALO may make one or more recommendations for the consideration of the ALAC. The appointment if NomCom delegates is carried out by the ALAC.The criteria for NomCom Delegates are shown at the end of this message. Selection Schedule for ALAC Members, RALO Leadership, and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom: * 10 May 2021 - Announcement of call for nominations and Nominee's Statement.* (Except for NARALO that requires a call for nominations 30 days before the start of the elections.) * 10 May – 21 May 2021 - Nomination period (nominations accepted for 10 working days). * 28 May 2021 - Deadline for nomination acceptances * 31 May 2021 - 4 June 2021 - Calls with the candidates if desired by the RALOs. * 7 June - 11 June 2021 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no later than one week after the deadline for nomination acceptances and end no later than two weeks after that deadline). * 2021 AGM [ICANN72] - Newly elected ALAC Members and RALOs Leaders shall be seated at the end of the 2021 AGM following the close of the Board Meeting on 28 October 2021. Process for Nominations: All nominees are expected to submit a brief statement explaining why they believe they are a suitable candidate to At-Large staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>. All nominees must also complete or update their Statement of Interest (see: At-Large New SOIs Workspace<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__community.icann.org_di…>). Nominations, including self-nominations, must be made directly to their RALO’s mailing list, as well as posted the 2021 ALAC and RALO Elections, Selections and Appointments Workspace <https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/2021+ALAC+and+RALO+Elections%2C…> or by sending a note to At-Large staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>. Criteria for NomCom Delegates: The NomCom is responsible for selecting members of the ICANN Board, ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO. This is a very important function and all candidates should meet important criteria. * Familiarity with the ICANN groups to which the NomCom appoints (Board, ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO). * Ability to judge people (such as when interviewing and hiring). * Comfortable and preferably fluent with English (listening, reading, speaking). * Good on-line skills such as on Google & Social media. * Time Commitment - Must be willing to devote substantial time under tight deadlines (March-June). May involve travel to up to 4 meetings. * Ability work in a group environment, standing up for what you believe in a discussion with other "strong" people, but at the same time, must be a good listener and be willing to change your mind if someone else has a good argument. Diplomacy is important. EURALO's Chair and Secretariat would like to announce a call for nominations to fill Board positions for the next 2 years (10 December 2021 – 9 December 2023<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/EURALO+Board+2021-2023+Workspace>). Please note the current Board will remain in place until the new Board is elected. Outreach with communities outside ICANN Please note the rules and agreements applicable to this election (see document attached). In accordance with these agreements, kindly note: 1. The size of the EURALO Board will be 3-7 members, plus ex-officio, the EURALO Chair and EURALO Secretary; 2. There should be a maximum limit of 1 Board member per country; 3. As is the usual custom in votes involving people, votes will take place by secret ballot; 4. The Board will be selected for a two-years-term; not performing Board members can be recalled after one year to allow to be replaced by better candidates. The EURALO Board should be balanced but EURALO has not reached a consensus on having direct absolute criteria for geographical (East/Western Europe) or gender criteria. As geographical and gender balance are important in our region, I ask you to consider these issues when making your selection. Dear All, On behalf of Daniel Nanghaka, Chair of the ALAC Sub-committee on Outreach and Engagement <https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/ALAC+Subcommittee+on+Outreach+a…> ( OE-SC) and Natalia Filina, Vice-Chair of the OE-SC and Manager of the Regional Liaisons, this is a call for both new members as well as for current members to re-confirm their membership. The OE-SC develops strategy to: * Reach out to potential members of the At-Large Community (Outreach), and * Engage new and existing members of the At-Large Community (Engagement) Members of the OE-SC will be requested to work with their Regional Liaison within this group to advance the activities in their RALOs. The OE-SC works with the broader At-Large Community to ensure its strategy is implemented successfully. BACKGROUND: Working within ICANN can be challenging, for staff as well as for the numerous volunteers that form this international organisation. Collaboration across the globe and over various time zones, the different perspectives you have whether you participate as an employee or as a volunteer, as well as a lack of understanding for each other’s cultural background and behaviour are potential sources of conflict. However, a positive aspect is that the ICANN community has all the sources to overcome intercultural misunderstandings. We just have to talk and to listen to each other. The At-Large Capacity Building Working Group Sub Team would like to start a series of interactive workshops, addressing the global At-Large Community and increasing our ability to understand and appreciate each other’s challenges. During these workshops, we will explore the “secrets” of our different cultures on some dedicated examples such as: 1. Verbal communication (speed, tone, irony, volume) 2. The art of small talk 3. Time sensitivity 4. How to dress 5. Eating manners 6. What is expected from a community leader? 7. How work hierarchies in your country and which effect they have at your performance at ICANN? … just to name a few We will start the series with a topic related to communication - something that we possibly will need to re-fresh as we prepare to meet in person again - hopefully soon! If this initial workshop is a success, we will continue with this series in 2022 on the other topics and introduce the format to the wider ICANN Community. Questions to be discussed are, inter alia: * What are do and don’ts in a small talk? * Which topics you should never touch? * How important, or less important, is small talk in a region for building trust or just as am matter of politeness? * How sensitive is a culture with regard to speed, tone, irony, volume? * How do you approach a person you would like to get to know? BACKGROUND: Working within ICANN can be challenging, for staff as well as for the numerous volunteers that form this international organisation. Collaboration across the globe and over various time zones, the different perspectives you have whether you participate as an employee or as a volunteer, as well as a lack of understanding for each other’s cultural background and behaviour are potential sources of conflict. However, a positive aspect is that the ICANN community has all the sources to overcome intercultural misunderstandings. We just have to talk and to listen to each other. The At-Large Capacity Building Working Group Sub Team would like to start a series of interactive workshops, addressing the global At-Large Community and increasing our ability to understand and appreciate each other’s challenges. During these workshops, we will explore the “secrets” of our different cultures on some dedicated examples such as: 1. Verbal communication (speed, tone, irony, volume) 2. The art of small talk 3. Time sensitivity 4. How to dress 5. Eating manners 6. What is expected from a community leader? 7. How work hierarchies in your country and which effect they have at your performance at ICANN? … just to name a few We will start the series with a topic related to communication - something that we possibly will need to re-fresh as we prepare to meet in person again - hopefully soon! If this initial workshop is a success, we will continue with this series in 2022 on the other topics and introduce the format to the wider ICANN Community. Message sent on behalf of EURALO’s Chair and Secretariat Dear EURALO members, The current EURALO Board term ends on 9 December 2021. EURALO's Chair and Secretariat would like to announce a call for nominations to fill Board positions for the next 2 years (10 December 2021 – 9 December 2023<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/EURALO+Board+2021-2023+Workspace>). This call is made in accordance with the EURALO Articles of Association<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/Procedures+and+Policies?preview=…> and Selection and performance criteria for EURALO Board members 2015<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__community.icann.org_do…>. Please note the current Board will remain in place until the new Board is elected. In addition, there is a need for Board members as a whole, to share responsibilities with the EURALO Chair and Secretariat in assuming the following topics: 1. Legal issues 2. Policy Development 3. Communication including leading the work on the EURALO website/WIKI/Facebook page. 4. Outreach with communities outside ICANN Please note the rules and agreements applicable to this election (see document attached). In accordance with these agreements, kindly note: 1. The size of the EURALO Board will be 3-7 members, plus ex-officio, the EURALO Chair and EURALO Secretary; 2. There should be a maximum limit of 1 Board member per country; 3. As is the usual custom in votes involving people, votes will take place by secret ballot; 4. The Board will be selected for a two-years-term; not performing Board members can be recalled after one year to allow to be replaced by better candidates. The EURALO Board should be balanced but EURALO has not reached a consensus on having direct absolute criteria for geographical (East/Western Europe) or gender criteria. As geographical and gender balance are important in our region, I ask you to consider these issues when making your selection. Please submit your nominations and self-nominations starting today, Thursday 25 November until Wednesday 1 December at 23:59 UTC by sending an email to the EURALO mailing list and copying At-Large staff staff(a)atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>. As per practice in past General Assemblies, there will be a maximum of two proxies possible per member participating in the GA and staff will inform you if a nominated proxy has exceeded their vote allocation and suggest alternatives.
