Internet Fragmentation continues to be a significant concern within Internet Governance spaces and a hot topic of discourse around the world. In Oct 2023, the Internet Governance community turned up in force in Japan for IGF 2023 Kyoto hosted by the United Nations, to discuss the topic through one of 8 themes: "Avoiding Internet Fragmentation." EURALO's Chair and Secretariat would like to announce a call for nominations to fill Board positions<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/EURALO+Board+2023-2025+Workspace> for the next 2 years (10 December 2023 – end of ICANN AGM 2025). This call is made in accordance with the EURALO Articles of Association<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/Procedures+and+Policies?preview=…>, the EURALO Rules of Procedures<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/EURALO+Information%3A+Governance…> (ROP) and Selection and performance criteria for EURALO Board members 2015<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__community.icann.org_do…>. Please note the current Board will remain in place until the new Board is elected. In addition, there is a need for Board members as a whole, to share responsibilities with the EURALO Chair and Secretariat in assuming the following topics: 1. Legal issues 2. Policy Development 3. Communication including leading the work on the EURALO website/WIKI/Facebook page. 4. Outreach with communities outside ICANN Please note the rules and agreements applicable to this election (see document attached). In accordance with these agreements, kindly note: 1. The size of the EURALO Board will be 2-5 members, plus ex-officio, the EURALO Chair and EURALO Secretary; 2. There should be a maximum limit of 1 Board member per country; 3. As is the usual custom in votes involving people, votes will take place by secret ballot; 4. The Board will be selected for a two-years-term; not performing Board members can be recalled after one year to allow to be replaced by better candidates. The EURALO Board should be balanced but EURALO has not reached a consensus on having direct absolute criteria for geographical (East/Western Europe) or gender criteria. As geographical and gender balance are important in our region, we ask you to consider these issues when making your selection. The goal is to develop a framework for implementation of ATRT3 Recommendation 3.6. The feedback from SO/AC Chairs is expected by 30 November. THIS WEEK: Retirement of Non-Policy Recommendations ICANN org shared a document named "Draft Process to Retire Non-Policy Recommendations" with SO/AC Chairs and expects their feedback by 30 November. The process pertains exclusively to non-policy recommendations that emerge from Reviews and Cross-Community Working Groups, aligning with the objective of the implementation of ATRT3 Recommendation 5. Action Items THIS WEEK 🔥 ACTION ITEM: Call for Volunteers: Join the Community Coordination Group (CIP-CCG) that will help design the future Continuous Improvement Program The leadership of the ICANN Supporting Organizations (SOs), Advisory Committees (ACs), and their constituent stakeholder groups (22 total including the Nominating Committee) will be appointing one representative (with an optional secondary alternate) to join the Continuous Improvement Program Community Coordination Group (CIP-CCG). Appointees are expected to be identified by the end of November 2023, with a view toward an initial meeting in December 2023. Please share your interest in participation with your structure’s leadership. The CIP-CCG will be responsible for helping to design and implement a Continuous Improvement Program. This is a great opportunity to take a leadership role in designing a program which will have lasting impact on the effectiveness and accountability of your community structure. In this work, the Community Coordination Group will be responsible for: 1. Developing a shared understanding of the meaning of Continuous Improvement in the context of ATRT3 Recommendation 3.6, calling for Organizational Reviews to be evolved into a Continuous Improvement Program (CIP), 2. Considering a range of methodologies for effective continuous improvement programs, 3. Agreeing on the methodology that is fit for ICANN purpose, and 4. Formulating a CIP Framework, to be used by each SO, AC and NomCom.
