Good afternoon: Allow me to draw your attention to the announcement of the composition and portfolios of the new European Commission from the point of view of Digital Economy and Society, the Internet and Internet Governance. http://ec.europa.eu/about/juncker-commission/commissioners-designate/index_… The Vice President of the Commission for the Digital Single Market will be Andrus Ansip (EE) The Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society will be Günther Oettinger (DE). In particular his responsibilities include: "Working with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President to develop the relationship with strategic partners in order to build a global governance architecture for the Internet which is legitimate, transparent, accountable, sustainable and inclusive. This includes ensuring the Internet remains open, a driving force for innovation and an international resource that benefits the European economy and citizens." I am sure that more detailed reporting and analysis will emerge in the next few days. Meanwhile, I thought that you might welcome a 'heads up' as to these developments.. EURALO candidates for the BMSPC and BCEC

Dear all, as discussed this week at our monthly and the following Board call, our region needs to nominate two candidates for the BMSPC (Board member selection process committee) and the BCEC (Board candidates selection committee) each until today. At our Board call we selected some experienced and fresh members who could join one of these important committees and asked them for approval. I have the pleasure to announce that EURALO will be represented with the following members: For the BMSPC – Rudi Vansnick (ISOC-Belgium) and Oksana Prykhodko (European Media Platform, Ukraine). For the BCEC – Veronica Cretu (ind. member, Moldavia) and Jordi Iparraguirre (ISOC-Catalonia). Roberto Gaetano (ind. member, Austria) was selected as Chair of the BCEC already. This composition is well balanced from a gender and regional POV. I would like to thank all our candidates for their interest and willingness to serve on the two committees which are charged with proceedings and selection of the next At-Large member on the ICANN Board (Seat No. 15, currently held by Sébastien Bachollet). On 10 December 2015 ICANN announced the opening of the nomination period for ICANN's 2015 Multistakeholder Ethos Award Program. The nomination period will close on 2 March 2015. This award program seeks to recognize long-standing community members who have served in leadership roles in multiple ICANN working groups or committees and demonstrated collaboration with different supporting organizations and/or advisory committees. The Multistakeholder Ethos Award will recognize ICANN participants who have deeply invested in consensus-based solutions, recognized the importance of ICANN's multistakeholder model of Internet governance, and contributed in a substantive way to the higher interests of ICANN's organization and its community. The nomination period for community nominees closes on 02 March 2015. Community members interested in submitting a nomination are invited to send an email toethosaward2015(a)icann.org including: * Name of nominee. * Community of nominee. * Reasons for nomination. Please note that the reasons outlining the candidate's merit for the nomination may be as brief or as long as required. Candidates for the award will demonstrate at least five years of participation in the ICANN Community. A panel of ICANN community members will review all community nominations and determine the best candidates for the 2015 award scheduled to be presented at the ICANN 53 Public Meeting. The decisions of the panel will be made based on the following criteria: 1. Demonstrated multistakeholder volunteer service via working groups or committees. 2. Demonstrated spirit of collaboration through engagement with other community members with the aim of consensus building. 3. Demonstrated facilitator of dialogue and open discussion in a fair, cordial and collegial manner. 4. Demonstrated additional devotional factors exhibited by time spent supporting ICANN's multistakeholder model and its overall effectiveness. European Individual Users Association is alive and well, and open for business

The transition to the new website is now complete, thanks to the generous support of Michele Neylon and Blacknight, who have revised and hosted it. We are currently accepting new members. We encourage individuals that are either European citizens or reside in Europe, and are interested in participating in the ICANN processes, to join the European Individual Users Association. Please go to the " <http://individualusers.org/become-a-member/> How to become a member" page of our website http://internetusers.org for more information. We are still in an interim phase: we do have an <http://individualusers.org/contacts/> Interim Leadership Team and the plan is to hold a General Assembly of all members in Dublin during the October 2015 ICANN meeting. In that General Assembly we plan to revise the <http://individualusers.org/files/Bylaws_EuroIndividuals_Association.pdf> Bylaws of the organization and elect the officials. In the meantime, we will post information related to ICANN activities that might be important for our members, and encourage contributions to the discussion.

This draft report was discussed during the ALAC and Regional Leaders Working Session on Sunday, 12 October. There will also be an open community discussion on A human rights perspective on ICANN’s policies and procedures on Wednesday, 15 October 2014,between 13.15-14.45,in the Encino Room in the ICANN 51 venue. Please find a flyer of this event attached with the details as this session is not on the public schedule. Given the interest in this report, there will be an At-Large Capacity Building Webinar on this topic scheduled for early November.
