Hi all. As most of you know, I have been always pushing for Universal Acceptance, including the deployment of IDN TLDs. I strongly believe that this is one of the game changers for reaching out to the next billion Internet users and giving equal opportunities for enjoying the benefits of online communication. There will be a working session at EuroDIG (https://www.eurodig.org<https://www.eurodig.org/>) on this topic on Wednesday 6 June - see the full programme at https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/Consolidated_programme_2018. I have been appointed focal point for the session, and will therefore coordinate participation. I wonder whether there are any former Directors that are either directly interested or could indicate people within their respective networks who are interested in participating to the discussion on this topic and/or joining the session in Tbilisi. The first step would be to join the EuroDIG-WS6 mailing list, where the session on Universal Acceptance is being prepared. I've worked on creating a data protection course - GDPR for citizens - for the last year and I'd like to invite you all good folks to join our course @ https://digirights.info. The project has been funded by ISOC and the Finnish Foreign Ministry. It takes about seven hours to go through the whole material, but of course, it might take you up to 1-3months to get a reply for your Subject Access Request. Not only does this course teach people their rights and how to exercise them, but we also collect feedback on the SARs, to better analyse, which companies are not complying with the GDPR and what kinds of difficulties people have in completing their data requests and in receiving their personal data, that they requested for. *Please forward the call to young people residing in Europe* Since its early days EuroDIG is devoted to engage with the next generation of Internet governance leaders. The Youth Dialogue on Internet Governance is the youth programme of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance and features a three-day, pre-event track full of discussion, learning, networking, and fun that prepares youth participants for their participation in the EuroDIG process. >From 16th-18th June participants have the opportunity of: * peer-learning with youths from other European countries and background, * discussing and exchanging with experienced net politics practitioners, * working out youth messages to be presented at EuroDIG and the global IGF The <https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/YOUthDIG_2019> agenda is work in progress and will be shaped by former YoutDIGers. Funds will be available for travel and / or hotel costs for a limited number of applicants. Eligibility criteria In order to be considered for participation (and additionally funding), a candidate must meet the following criteria: * is between 18-30 years old; * resides in the European continent * demonstrates interest in Internet governance related issues Review and selection If the requests for funding meeting the aforementioned criteria exceed the available funds, the selection process will be made by taking into account the need to achieve a diversity of participants, in terms of: * geography (countries & minorities represented); * gender balance; * academia, non-academia; * organised youth, non-organised youth; * balance between newcomers (individuals who have not previously participated in EuroDIG processes) and experienced participants (individuals who have been previously involved in EuroDIG processes) * as well as the consideration of people less represented in general YOUthDIG alumni's will form the selection committee assisted by the EuroDIG Secretariat. Responsibilities of selected participants Selected participants will be required to: * attend all YOUthDIG sessions * attend 2-3 preparation online meetings (April - June) * help organising a session in advance by joining the Org Team of a EuroDIG session of their choice * attend and participate proactively in the EuroDIG meeting in particular as remote participation moderators * ask questions, learn how to get involved, and have fun! All fellows will also be responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
