CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2021 ALAC, RALO AND ALAC DELEGATES TO THE NOMCOM

**VERSION FRANÇAISE À LA SUITE DE LA VERSION ANGLAISE ** ** Dear All, On behalf of Maureen Hilyard, Chair of the ALAC, we would like to announce that the 2021 call for nominations is now open for positions to be filled as ALAC Members, RALO Leaders and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom. Positions Open: Please refer to the 2021 ALAC and RALO Elections, Selections and Appointments Workspace <https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/2021+ALAC+and+RALO+Elections%2C…> for a comprehensive list of all available positions and whether current holders of the positions are eligible for re-selection. Terms: * ALAC: Terms for the ALAC will run from the end of the 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) to the end of the 2023 AGM. * RALO Leadership: Terms for the RALO Leadership will be as noted on the individual RALO election pages. All terms will start at the end of the 2021 AGM. * ALAC Delegates to the NomCom: Voting members of the NomCom are appointed for a one year term, starting at the close of the 2021 AGM and ending at the close of the 2022 AGM and may be re-appointed for a further term of one year subject to the requirement under the ICANN Bylaws<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_resource…>. Each RALO may make one or more recommendations for the consideration of the ALAC. The appointment if NomCom delegates is carried out by the ALAC.The criteria for NomCom Delegates are shown at the end of this message. Selection Schedule for ALAC Members, RALO Leadership, and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom: * 10 May 2021 - Announcement of call for nominations and Nominee's Statement.* (Except for NARALO that requires a call for nominations 30 days before the start of the elections.) * 10 May – 21 May 2021 - Nomination period (nominations accepted for 10 working days). * 28 May 2021 - Deadline for nomination acceptances * 31 May 2021 - 4 June 2021 - Calls with the candidates if desired by the RALOs. * 7 June - 11 June 2021 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no later than one week after the deadline for nomination acceptances and end no later than two weeks after that deadline). * 2021 AGM [ICANN72] - Newly elected ALAC Members and RALOs Leaders shall be seated at the end of the 2021 AGM following the close of the Board Meeting on 28 October 2021. Process for Nominations: All nominees are expected to submit a brief statement explaining why they believe they are a suitable candidate to At-Large staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>. All nominees must also complete or update their Statement of Interest (see: At-Large New SOIs Workspace<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__community.icann.org_di…>). Nominations, including self-nominations, must be made directly to their RALO’s mailing list, as well as posted the 2021 ALAC and RALO Elections, Selections and Appointments Workspace <https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/2021+ALAC+and+RALO+Elections%2C…> or by sending a note to At-Large staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>. Criteria for NomCom Delegates: The NomCom is responsible for selecting members of the ICANN Board, ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO. This is a very important function and all candidates should meet important criteria. * Familiarity with the ICANN groups to which the NomCom appoints (Board, ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO). * Ability to judge people (such as when interviewing and hiring). * Comfortable and preferably fluent with English (listening, reading, speaking). * Good on-line skills such as on Google & Social media. * Time Commitment - Must be willing to devote substantial time under tight deadlines (March-June). May involve travel to up to 4 meetings. * Ability work in a group environment, standing up for what you believe in a discussion with other "strong" people, but at the same time, must be a good listener and be willing to change your mind if someone else has a good argument. Diplomacy is important. J’ai toujours lutté contre la guerre et pour la paix partout. Je vais continuer. Après la pandémie, notre région et le monde n’avait pas besoin d’une telle situation. Je sais que cela n’a pas de lien direct avec Internet et l’ICANN. Mais comme président d’EURALO, je ne peux rester silencieux. Je voudrais apporter mon soutien à tous nos amis d’Ukraine. J’espère que nous resterons unis pour continuer à prendre part aux évolutions d’Internet et de sa gouvernance. Nos amis de Russie ne sont pas responsables de la situation. English & Français I am sad, very sad. The day dawns on our region where a new war has begun. Our region, our peoples do not deserve this. I have always fought against war and for peace everywhere. I will continue. After the pandemic, our region and the world did not need such a situation. I know this has no direct connection with the Internet and ICANN. But as President of EURALO, I cannot remain silent. I would like to send my support to all our friends in Ukraine.
