Dear All, On the EURALO monthly call<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/2016.08.23+EURALO+Teleconference>, held on December 20, 2016<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/2016-12-20+EURALO+Monthly+Teleco…>, EURALO Board member Jordi Iparraguirre, notified EURALO membership of his resignation due to other activities. As agreed on the call, EURALO's Chair and Secretariat would like to announce a call for nominations to fill the Board seat vacated. This call is made in accordance with the EURALO Articles of Association<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/Articles+of+Association> and Selection and performance criteria for EURALO Board members 2015<https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/53777046/Performance-crite…>. Please note: For this Board replacement round several candidates may be nominated but only one position is vacant. Since this is for ONE seat, ALSes will have ONE vote only! As we have a limit of 1 Board member per country, citizens of Finland, Austria, Germany and France are not eligible for nomination. Dear All, The ALAC and RALO Members of the Finance and Budget Sub-Committee (FBSC) have now been identified. Image_1 Image_0 TALLINN, 6-7 June 2017 Info letter no. 9/16 With this last info letter of the year we would like to wish you - more than ever - a peaceful Christmas and a joyful start into 2017. Hopefully next year will be a better one for Europe! ● Summary of the IGF in Mexico from a regional perspective Apart from the fact that this was one of the best organised IGFs, it was a successful meeting for all national and regional IG initiatives (NRIs) as well. NRIs had been given a three-hour main session and while it might be seen a bit of an overload to invite more than 30 speakers, it was a strong signal that the global IGF community recognise the value of independent NRIs. This important session was well organised, thanks to a joint effort between NRIs themselves, the IGF Secretariat, and the MAG. Additionally NRIs met in a coordination session where <https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/about/dsd/director> Mr Juwang Zhu, Director of Division Sustainable Development, UN DESA was listening to the specific perspectives and challenges NRIs are facing. He was very positive about supporting NRIs in their future work. NRIs are seen as key contributors to the IGF process by bringing up the topics truly bottom up - and in Europe we have the biggest concentrations of NRIs! Unfortunately the EuroDIG proposal for a session at the IGF was not selected for inclusion in the programme, so we decided to invite European stakeholders for some drinks instead and organised a quiz on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of EuroDIGJ. We held one reception together with the <https://www.eifonline.org/> European Internet Forum (EIF) and had the chance to connect with MEP’s which participated in great numbers at the IGF. Another chance to clink glasses was the drawing of the 10 winners of our quiz, where all former EuroDIG hosts dedicated one typical present from their counties. Most former hosts could even hand over the present personally. All gifts found their way to the winners, either during that evening or the day after. The first price went to Zack Coleman from the UK. Dear EURALO members, on today's EURALO call we discussed the EURALO events at the forthcoming ICANN meeting in Copenhagen (11-16 March 2017), in particular relating to outreach. It was decided to work with the Outreach and Engagement working group, the Capacity Building Working Group, as well as the Regional Vice Presidents Jean-Jacques Sahel and Michael Yakushev, as well as Adam Peake, who is helping us out with Outreach and leads the work about the Civil Society engagement at ICANN. I mentioned both the Fellowship (see below) and the NextGen program (young people/students from the local area - the European Region in our case). FY 17 At-Large Captioning Pilot Project to start in JAN 2017!

Dear All, We are excited to announce that Phase 2 of the Captioning pilot will start up again in January. Please pass this email to others who I have missed. If you would like to have a teleconference captioned during this second phase of the pilot please submit your request to At-Large Staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org> by January 1 or as soon as possible As agreed to in part 1 of the pilot, the implementation of this project will be structured as follows: * Three calls to include captioning each month for a total of 6 teleconferences, not exceeding 60 minutes per call (with the exception of the ALAC Monthly Meeting) * The calls shall be held between January - February 2017 * Most calls will be captioned in English, with the exception of 1 in French and 1 in Spanish to be held in February * Priority will be given to those groups who did not make it into the first phase. These include cross community groups such as the CCWG-Accountability and the CCWG-IG and other CCWGs * To select the calls the captioning team has developed a set of criteria to evaluate and rate the requests. The request for captioning must meet at least one of these criteria to be put on the list. Criteria for Captioning: 1) Are there persons with disabilities or with limited bandwidth participating? 2) Are there webinars of general interest to the ICANN community that would increase the engagement of non-native English speakers? 3) Are the meetings or discussions about accessible tools or software? * The At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group, in collaboration with At-Large Staff, will select the calls that will have captioning based on the criteria noted above. * A short poll will be made at the end of each call where captioning is used to ask for feedback on the captioning program during that call and also for those who watch/listen to the call at a later date. . The process involves calls across Regional At-Large Organizations (RALOs) to discuss the BCEC slate of candidates, the option of possible petitions by RALOs to add to this slate additional candidates who have submitted Expression of Interests (EoIs) but were not selected by the BCEC, and the agreement on the final slate of candidates. This process will culminate in an election among the final slate of candidates by the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) members and Regional At-Large Organization (RALO) chairs. The selection process is planned to be completed by Friday, 21 April 2017, with the announcement of the successful candidate on that date.
