Hello all, please see the email below from Holly Raiche regarding a blog post from ICANN's CEO Göran Marby, proposing three models for addressing the issue of the RDS (Registration Data Services) in light of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). https://www.icann.org/news/blog/data-protection-and-privacy-update-seeking-… A discussion's currently happening on the ALAC list - http://atlarge-lists.icann.org/pipermail/alac/2018-January/date.html ...and since this region is primarily concerned, as well as very focussed on Privacy issues, it would be great if comments also came from our region. According to the blog, 'community input' is being sought - by the end of January. Given the significance of this discussion on the information that registries/registrars collect and display, I am assuming that ALAC will be making comments? We should, at the least, have a page on the wiki for comments??? The RTT services will be provided only in English. We can transcribe 6 calls a month until the end of FY18, which ends on June 30, for a total of 30 calls. Dear EURALO members, On behalf of Judith Hellerstein, Chair of the “Real-Time-Transcription” (RTT) (formerly known as captioning pilot), this is a call to join the working group. For those members already listed please confirm your membership or let us know if you no longer wish to be a member. The WG will review the requests for RTTs service from our community, according to the published criteria, modify the criteria, revise the survey questions, and evaluate the metrics and impact of this project. At Large Staff will continue to compile the metrics and create a google doc listing all the metrics collected. On the night of 1 December 1992, Jon Postel delegated the .ua domain to the Ukrainian Internet pioneers who had started negotiations for the ccTLD right after Ukraine declared its independence in 1991. Alexandra Kulikova, Head of Global Stakeholder Engagement for Eastern Europe And Central Asia, took part in the conference and presented the Hostmaster LTD team and .ua's registry manager with a congratulatory letter signed by Göran Marby, ICANN's President and CEO. With just over 550,000 domains registered under .ua, the zone is one of the leaders in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and has been DNSSEC-signed since 2012. They provided an overview of ICANN's role in securing the DNS, and the work of ICANN's Security, Stability, and Resiliency (SSR) team in areas related to DNS security and abuse. We also covered our engagement work, including the capacity-development workshops we hold for law enforcement authorities. Throughout 2017, we held 23 different activities with 20 different universities, 2 of which were in Istanbul. This process pertains to a dedicated part of the overall ICANN annual budget that is set aside to fund specific requests from the community for activities that are not already included in the recurring ICANN budget. FY19 Additional Budget Requests cover the period 1 July 2018 through 30 June 2019. The relevant information is available on the At-Large FY19 Additional Budget Request Workspace<https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+FY19+Additional+Budget…>, including the key deadlines, details of the process, principles and the request template. The FBSC plays a key role in reviewing all At-Large FY19 Additional Budget Requests for submission to ICANN. IMPORTANT: In 2016, the members of the ALAC Finance and Budget Sub-Committee (FBSC) agreed to the following criteria for At-Large proposals: * Outreach should not be a major focus. Activities to improve engagement with existing members is encouraged. * If any request is made on outreach, it should probably go through the CROPP program and not this special request process. * Proposals should include ways in which will make the ALAC and/or the At-Large community more effective and develop the At-Large community. * RALO requests must go through a bottom up process within their RALO prior to being submitted for consideration by the FBSC. * They must be explicitly supported by the RALO representative on the FBSC. * Staff is currently expecting that basic resources for community communications/printing will be supported through the core ICANN budget, but that community proposals for printing , etc. will be accepted as a back-up in case expectations change. Specific proposals for communications resources beyond simple printing and editing functions should be prepared and submitted. IMPORTANT: Between now and 12 January 2018 the RALOs are asked to review any ALS request or complete a template on behalf of the RALO and send requests to At-Large Staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>. Dear EURALO members, I am in receipt of an email from Tijani Ben Jemaa, chair of the At-Large Capacity Building working group which prepares the program of Webinars that you may attend on a monthly basis. Tijani is looking for suggestions about topics that we are interested in. I have already replied that the prime topic that we are interested in, in Europe, is the GDPR - and I can announce here that we'll soon have a EURALO specific Webinar on "Practical Implementation of GDPR for European Organisations" - with the aim that this should give you a fair assessment on how GDPR affects ICANN, affect EURALO, but also how GDPR affects your organisation.
