To help the At-Large Community members to learn more about the background, views, and positions of the Candidates and to help the electorate members<https://community.icann.org/x/8LXDAw> to decide on their votes in the final election (starts on 21 Feb 2017, view timeline<https://community.icann.org/x/ORq4Aw>), the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC) have decided to organize the following interaction activities after soliciting feedback across the community: 1. An At-Large Community wide teleconference where Candidates introduce themselves and answer questions from members. 2. An interactive wiki workspace<https://community.icann.org/x/ArXDAw> for At-Large members to ask questions to the Final Slate of Candidates and for the Candidates to answer. BCEC Announces the Final Slate of ICANN Board Director Candidates Selected by the At-Large Community

Dear All, The optional Regional At-Large Organization (RALO) petition process<https://atlarge.icann.org/news/announcement-987-2016-12-19-en> in the ICANN Board Director selection did not result in any successful petition to add names to the BCEC Slate of Candidates and this stage of the process has now concluded. Hence, the Final Slate of Candidates, who were selected by the BCEC<https://atlarge.icann.org/news/announcement-985-2016-12-16-en> and will go forward to the next stage of the selection process organized by the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC), are (listed in alphabetical order of the last name): * Alan Greenberg (Canada) * Leon Felipe Sanchez Ambia (Mexico) EoIs of the Final Slate of Candidates You may view the EoIs (with personal and private information removed) of the Final Slate of Candidates HERE<https://community.icann.org/x/N6bDAw>. Dear EURALO members, On 5 January 2017, ALAC Member Veronica Cretu representing EURALO notified EURALO Chair Olivier Crépin-Leblond of her resignation due to other activities. EURALO's Chair and Secretariat would like to announce a call for nominations to fill her vacant ALAC seat. The nomination period will start TODAY January 16 until 27 January 2017 - (nominations accepted for 10 working days). Please note the following: 1. All nominees are expected to submit a brief statement explaining why they believe they are a suitable candidate and must also complete or update their Statement of Interest (see: At-Large New SOIs Workspace). 2. No one who is currently serving on the Nominating Committee may be nominated for the ALAC. See https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en#VII-8 3. Bladel <jbladel(a)godaddy.com> To: SOAC Leaders ICANN58 <soac-leaders-icann58(a)icann.org> Dear SOAC Leaders / ICANN58 Planning Team – During the GNSO Council last week, there was discussion of a session at ICANN58 that would address data protection concerns in our industry, and would be attended by data protection commissioners from throughout the EU. These folks are especially interested in the ongoing work around WHOIS/RDS, and the Copenhagen location is easily accessible to prospective attendees. Organizers of this session have asked the GNSO and other groups (GAC, I believe?) to support their inclusion on the meeting agenda. Additionally, as it appears that one of the HIT sessions may become available (Monday 1515-1645), I would like to propose that we consider repurposing this HIT slot to accommodate the growing interest in the “Data Protection Summit”. If there is support among this group for proceeding, then I would ask the volunteer organizers of this session to produce an overview/agenda of their session, to ensure that the subject matter and format meets the expectations of all SO/ACs, and contributes to the furtherance of the RDS policy work already underway. I recognize that this is coming fairly late in to the process, but am hopeful that our group can be flexible in its consideration of this request. If we are unable to accommodate the proposal, please note that some version of this session will likely occur in Copenhagen anyway, albeit it would not enjoy an unconflicted HIT slot on the main schedule. If possible, we should decide this week, so I can task the volunteers to either (a) develop the aforementioned session agenda, or (b) make alternative (non-HIT) scheduling arrangements. Dear All, This is to let you know that by the 23 Jan 2017 23:59 UTC deadline, the European Regional At-Large Organization (EURALO) concluded its vote on adding Sébastien Bachollet to the Final Slate for the ICANN Board Director position selected by the At-Large Community. The vote result confirms EURALO ALSes' support for Sébastien's petition: http://atlarge-lists.icann.org/pipermail/euro-discuss/2017-January/004759.h…. The Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSC) herby informs the other RALOs that, to decide whether they would support the EURALO petition to add Sébastien Bachollet on the final slate, they will have to conduct their formal decision making process, according to RALO's respective rules of procedure.
