RALO next steps?

Paul Twomey just mentioned in his President’s report the need for the RALOs to get going quickly on input to the policy processes of ICANN. He also mentioned this in both RALO meetings on Sunday. We should not focus exclusively on building up heavy structures, creating documents, rules and procedures, but we should focus on and move ahead on obtaining and transmitting the end user perspective on the main issues that are on the table at ICANN right now. Some of these are: · Protection of Registrants in relation to Registrars (RAA amendments) · IPv6 · IDNs · DNSSEC · gTLD process · ICANN Geographic Regions (a joint interest with the ccNSO) Most of these will be the subject of workshops or tutorials this week. For those of you who are here in San Juan, please make time to attend the sessions. Remote participation is available for most of the sessions as well. ALAC members who have focused on some of these issues, building specialties in certain issues, will also be available to discuss the issues with you if you want. Hi Karen, fyi: most of the board is "remote" now - if you relate to the icann meeting. here, in san juan are only the non-voting board members of alac (sebastien, veronica and myself) as well as vittorio and désirée. Arranging a EURALO Board meeting during San Juan

Dear All: I'm happy to make the administrative arrangements for a F2F/remote participation meeting of the EURALO board during the San Juan meeting (and indeed at any other time of course), however, I do need some advance warning. At-Large Travel Policy

The change is to advise you that ICANN are adopting a per-diem based system for expenses over and above those paid directly by ICANN. ALAC Rules of Procedure

Interim EURALO Board Secretariat Liaison

Dear EURALO Board members: It would be helpful, in the period before you elect your officers, if one of you could volunteer to be the point of contact on the Secretariat email group. This is not a policy-making body or anything like that, simply to allow the regional secretariats and officers a place to discuss effective coordination between regions, and if there is a procedural matter that the Secretariats need to canvas their regions on, such matters are put to this group in the first instance.
