As MEAC-SWG, we have made tangible contributions to ICANN's work in one of the most challenging, yet promising regions of the world. From strategy building to the development of implementation plans, we successfully carried out dozens of activities in the last year and many are yet to come. At ICANN60, we were impressed by the number of regional participants and the growing community interest in ICANN's work. MEAC-SWG played a significant role in making voices from the Middle East heard at ICANN60, through initiatives such as the first Middle East Space [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001k7krXJs_TBhPh7e3Xkxnv0Fsm4a6weckNGiclAW6fPMr…] 2017 was a promising year for MEAC-SWG, as we look at our commitment and achievements so far. During the year, 6,242 news stories were published about ICANN. All three ICANN Public Meetings took place in EMEA: ICANN58 in Denmark, ICANN59 in South Africa, and ICANN60 in the UAE. And among other events, ICANN worked with local hosts to organize Domain Name System (DNS) Forums in Turkey, the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe. The 30 course participants assisted in the implementation and evaluation of two DNS projects, one on a registry monitoring system and the other on Universal Acceptance [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001k7krXJs_TBhPh7e3Xkxnv0Fsm4a6weckNGiclAW6fPMr…] readiness of web browsers. The participants worked in teams on these two projects for six weeks, and received certificates of completion. In its fifth year, this survey is the first completed since Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) started performing the IANA functions on behalf of ICANN. Dear EURALO members, On behalf of Yrjo Lansipuro, Chair of the EURALO ALS Engagement Task Force<https://community.icann.org/display/EURALO/EURALO+Task+Force+on+At-Large+St…> we would like to request you to review and complete, as appropriate, the "Table of Expertise<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QjrOsGLQCCuMYJhVaLIVtYw-ifDSeNX2BXG…>". The table, compiled with the help of ALS'es and Individual Members last year, has already proved to be useful in eliciting valuable inputs from them into drafting statements and comments that ALAC contributes to ICANN's policy development. The Task Force wants to keep this tool up to date, and therefore asks ALS'es and Individual Members to review their part in the table, adding new information as appropriate, eg. new themes of interest and names of additional subject matter experts. Feel free to add any theme/topic not included in the table and relevant to ICANN's remit. For guidance on topics see: https://atlarge.icann.org/ Even if there are no changes, the Task Force would appreciate a short message to that effect. The RTT services will be provided only in English. We can transcribe 6 calls a month until the end of FY18, which ends on June 30, for a total of 30 calls. For each call transcribed, staff will provide users with a stream text link in addition to the captioning pod used within Adobe Connect.
